I started this Life Lately project as a way to document each week of the year, inspired by my love of Tracy’s everyday life posts.
This is my eight year (!) doing it, and I still enjoy recapping each week and looking back at how this same time has unfolded in past years.
Here’s a look at the first week of the year.
Savoring the last sweet moments of paradise.
Trying to get as much warm sunshine into my bones as possible to last me through March.
Sunlit sand glimmers.
There's no place like home.
Easing back into eating healthy.
Continued our Mission Impossible movie marathon.
Snow face.
It’s been bitterly cold and snowing every day since we got home, making reentry tough.
My boy.
Cheers to 2026!
First meal of 2026.
Snug as a bug.
First sunset of 2026.
The book was dark but beautifully written, and I was completely engrossed in Addie's life.
Favorite quotes:
"How can a thing be real if it cannot be remembered?"
"Time always ends a second before you're ready. Life is the minutes you want minus one."
"She is tired. Unspeakably tired. But there is no question she has lived. 'Nothing is all good or bad,' she says. 'Life is so much messier than that.' And there in the dark, he asks if it was really worth it. Were the instants of joy worth the stretches of sorrow? And she turns her head, and looks at him, and says, 'Always.'"
"This is how you live forever. Here is one day, and here is the next, and the next, and you take what you can, savor every stolen second, cling to every moment, until it's gone."
"What is a person, if not the marks they leave behind?"
"It is sad, of course, to forget. But it is a lonely thing, to be forgotten. To remember when no one else does."
Ominous skies.
Walking ON the lake.
I planned to multitask while watching the Eras Tour, but I was completely sucked into Taylor’s world.
Cuddle buddy.
I made this ramen with green pepper since that's what I had on hand and it was delicious.
See also: I poached my first egg and it was incredible!
I never realized why I love being home so much until now.
Yes!
It's scary how well Chat knows me.
I love a marriage challenge.
2026 things.
