Life Lately: Week 1

I started this little Life Lately project documenting each week of the year because I loved reading Tracey's everyday life posts.

This is my sixth year doing this project and it's been fun to recap each week and look back at previous year's weeks as well.

This is what the past week looked like.

The first week of the year!

I love a sparkling new year and a fresh new calendar to make plans and set goals.

Garlic and Herb Stuffed Mini Peppers.

Cheers to 2024!

My loves.

Ella is our soccer girl.

See also: G hiding his face from the camera.

We were looking at old photos (I'm on the lap to the right of the girl in the red dress) and sweet Bennett asked where G was, aww! :)

New Years Feast.

Ella is the big 1-0!

Make a wish.

Savoring my parent's sub Christmas lights one last time.

New Year, same breakfast.

Sporting his new sweater my mom got him for Christmas.

My eye doctor recommended I drink more electrolytes for eye health so I grabbed these and they are tasty and I'm drinking more water.

Tofu tzatziki bowl is what's for lunch.

It was nice to see the sun after a few gray days.

I love cracking open a brand new planner.

Comfy cozy are we.

My mom gave us leftover pulled pork and we served it on brioche buns with CFA sauce and that is a GAME CHANGER.

Starting my mornings with either yoga or weight lifting.

I've been on a mission to eat the food we have and found this in the fridge and it was pretty tasty.

My therapist recommended this to manage anxiety and G and I have been taking it every night and sleeping so good.

We snapped up a Green Chef deal and enjoyed Blackened Chicken with Creamy Aji Verde Salad.

Doesn't it look like the Wicked Witch of the West is under our bed?

Continuing to eat food we have and making an epic CFA chicken sandwich dupe.

Costco breaded chicken + cheddar cheese + CFA sauce + pickles + brioche bun.

My first book of 2024 was a favorite.

Fave quotes (and there are many!):

"Confirmation bias means that we tend to think what we think we're going to think... Basically we tend to decide on what the world is and who people are and how things are - and then we look for evidence that supports what we've already decided. And we ignore everything that doesn't fit."

"People who hurt others think there are only two choices in the world - to hurt or to be hurt."

"Isn't it lucky when we're drawn to people who can teach us things we need to learn?"

"The antidote is keeping a sense of humor. And staying humble. and laughing a lot. And doubling down on smiling. We're all just muddling through, after all. We're all just doing the best we can. We're all struggling with our struggles. Nobody has the answers. And everybody, deep down, is a little bit lost."

"The more good things you look for, the more you find."

"Believing in love is believing in hope."

I feel like I'm cheating on La Croix.

Sheet pan dinner with Aldi tzatziki.

Those crazy ears.

Green Chef's Salmon Bulgur Bowls with Turmeric Carrots was another winner.

First selfie of 2024.

Tried a new beer and it's not as good as the OG Oberon.

We went to our neighbors' house for game night.

I had extra ingredients on hand so I made the garlic and herb stuffed mini peppers again, but this time I made it as a dip with crackers and peppers for dipping and this is the way to do it.

Thanks, dad, for the suggestion! :)

This book was just a little too dark for my liking and a bit too predictable.

I did not want the book to go in the direction I thought it was going, but it did.

I like my thrillers to really twist and turn and this just wasn't that for me.

Bummer my second book of 2024 wasn't as good as my first.

Fave quotes:

"That was how she'd once viewed her perfect life: as a series of bad smells and unfulfilled duties, petty worries and late bills."

"A man who can't love but desperately needs to be loved is a dangerous thing indeed."

Green Chef's Southwest Fajita Cheeseburger wasn't bad, but probably our least favorite.

Back at our neighbors house on Sunday to watch the Lions' game.

Snacky lunch.

Cuuuute.

I thought this was a beautiful illustration of how God never allows pain without a purpose.

It's funny because it's true.

This is so pure and wholesome and makes me so happy.

You won't find me saying this often as an MSU grad, but Go Blue!

The little things really are the big things that I look back and cherish.

Yes, yes, yes!

Bahaha.

Deep.

Ha!

Takes me back to my childhood.

This is a fantastic New Year's Resolution.

My neighbor sent this to me and asked what Manny must think of us, ha!

Yikes.

We should not rob children of snow days, it's a rite of passage.

I'll never forget that thrill of seeing my school name scroll across the news screen and that feeling of pure exhilaration.

Lol.

I can't un-see it.

My humor in a nutshell.
