29

Birthdays are a big deal where I come from. My parents went out of their way to make sure we felt special on our day. We got to choose what we wanted to do and where we went to eat and my mom would make a cake of our choice. They day would be extra special and they truly showed us how much they loved us. My parents still make big deals out of birthdays. My mom will make us the cake of our choice and we get to pick anywhere we want to go to eat, it just usually isn’t on our actual birthday these days.

Garth is very similar. He loves the opportunity to spoil me and to make a big deal about it. I love this about Garth. He truly is so generous and thoughtful and this year was no exception. On my 25th birthday he surprised me with a trip to Traverse City and each day leading up to the trip he would give me a clue as to where we were going. It was such a fun trip!

Garth likes to extend your birthday from one day to a couple days. It started on Monday with a surprise dinner from my favorite sushi restaurant.  On Tuesday he had me open a few presents. I told you he spoils me! I’m a lucky girl.

He gave me two of my favorite things – red wine and Raisinets. Does it get any better? YUM.

Since we purchased the new patio set I've been wanting summery plates to use to eat out there. Garth found these and Target and I think he has pretty great taste!

I am obsessed with candles so he gave me some really delicious smelling ones from Khol's that are now the centerpiece on my kitchen table.

I think the funniest part was that Garth was more excited to tell me the great deals he got on the gifts than the actual gifts themselves. He knows me to well. I love myself a bargain!

On my actual birthday Garth took me to the Chop House for dinner. Seriously, the best filet mignon I have ever had. Ever. It literally melted in my mouth and was so flavorful. Don’t even get me started on the garlic smashed potatoes. They were out of this world incredible. I think I would want this for my last meal.

After dinner Garth showed me a picture of my main gift which is shipping now. You guys, Garth out did himself this year and he knows it. IT. IS. ON. Remember my obsession with accent chairs? Well, Garth did me one better and bought a zebra print accent chair. I cannot wait for it to arrive so I can find a place for it and show you all how beautiful it is!!!

On my first day of being 29 I crossed two things off my list. Not too shabby if I do say so myself. I think it’s going to be a very good year.

Cheers to that!
