This is what the past week looked like.
In Manny's 12 years he has never eaten anything that wasn't food until Monday.
He got really sick, weak, and wouldn't eat or drink anything.
We took him to the vet and they had to sedate him for x-rays and we were warned he may not make it through sedation at his senior age.
Cue the tears.
It was emotional and stressful, but he survived sedation and we could pick him up.
Salmon bowls...
With a view.
The vet wasn't sure what was stuck in his colon, but said he would pass it or we would have a difficult decision on our hands because he likely wouldn't survive surgery at his age.
We prayed hard and slowly but surely Manny started eating and drinking again.
Hover board spotted and it feels like the future.
He was a sleepy guy, but every day he was more and more himself.
In office day.
Free lunch Thursday with friends.
Good sunset week.
This salad dressing is really great, highly recommend.
Grilled cheese for dinner is always a good idea.
Sparkling water in a martini glass.
There was a sudden death 4th of July week that has rocked our community.
We went to the visitation and waited 1.5 hours to hug the family.
What a legacy!
God is good.
Pineappletinis were necessary after the scare we had with Manny this week.
Scallop risotto.
Stocked up on sunscreen during Prime Day(s).
Still working through all the Mission Impossible movies.
G brought me home flowers, swoon.
It feels surreal that we have a boat on our beach.
Manny loves a pontoon ride and hasn't been on one in four years.
When I thought we were going to lose him my biggest regret was not getting him on a boat again...
So a few days later when we heard our neighbor was selling his boat it just felt right to become boat owners.
The maiden voyage put him right to sleep, ha!
It's a different world out on the water.
My SIL brought flowers and they are the prettiest.
That happy puppy face is worth the boat purchase one hundred times over.
We bought the boat on a Friday and family was coming over Saturday so we didn't tell them.
It was fun to surprise them and take them out on the lake.
Manny was on a boat with his favorite people and my heart was full.
Boat selfie.
Beautiful girls.
Boys in the back.
Happy kiddos.
Our neighbor had named the boat The Palm and our favorite hotel in Miami is The Royal Palm so that is the new boat name.
After the boat ride we ate pizza and then spent the afternoon floating.
Presents for our favorite nine year old.
Benny and Fred.
That's a big dino!
Benny helped make the cake (!!) and Ella made the cake pops!
Sunday morning ride around the lake.
Happy dog, happy life.Boat girlie.
This may be my favorite of her books.
Fave quotes:
"Sometimes true healing can't take place until you cut off the source of the pain."
"You can have forgiveness without reconciliation or restoration of the relationship."
"The key to letting God completely heal you is to fully grieve as you surrender the hope you had that things could be different and trust that He will redeem what you've been through in way you can't see at the time."
"The world tells us success looks like athletic prowess, academic achievement, social standing, and physical perfection, while God tell us it looks like loving our neighbor, lifting others up, controlling our emotion, and having a humble spirit."
"Faith is not a riddle to be solved but rather a journey our hearts are on, and God isn't afraid of our questions or our doubts."
Perfect end to a quintessential summer weekend.
Interesting concept from James Clear.
This has been my prayer the last few weeks as I mourn the lives lost in the Texas flood disaster.
Good reminder.
Another gem from James Clear.
It's funny because it's true.
Agreed.
It really is amazing.
The good old days.
Hahaha.
That's your puzzle to solve now.
Lol.
People are so witty.
Puerto Backyarda!
Agreed.
I feel seen.
For more life lately:
