January Goals Revisited

Can you believe the first month of the year is over? It went fast and slow at the same time. There was a lot of good this month, but also some tough times so I'm thankful for a new month and a fresh start. But first, lets look back and see how I did on my January goals.

1. Lose 7 pounds this month. I lost 2.6 pounds this month. I'll step it up next month. We had two weekend getaways and a big family loss so I'm giving myself a little grace. I didn't take a step backwards and I'm thankful for that. I would just like to hit 30 pounds lost relatively soon because it is just taking forever to get there.

2. Plan something special for G's birthday. NAILED IT. I planned a weekend in Grand Rapids for G complete with a restaurant tour, awesome drinks, brunch, and a stop at SpeakEZ that only true soccer fans would understand. It was a wonderful weekend away and I know G appreciated it. I'm so glad I planned this because little did I know we would be at the hospital saying goodbye to my grandma on G's actual birthday.

3. Cook one new meal each week. I did! I made Crock Pot Italian Chicken, Spinach and Artichoke Lasagna, Shepherd's Pie, and a Doughnut Milkshake. G and I have started cooking together and it's fun. Making WW recipes is easier than counting each ingredient separately so this has also contributed to my cooking success. I enjoyed this so much I plan to continue into February. I got my cooking groove back and I'm going with it!

4. Clear the clutter. I am this much closer to cutting out Facebook. I also unsubscribed to emails I wasn't enjoying or using coupons for. I unsubscribed to blogs I wasn't reading or that posted way too much (ahem FitSugar). It was so freeing! Life changing even. I felt lighter. Freer. Why didn't I do this sooner?!

5. Deep clean the house. We did this the second weekend in January and it felt incredible. G helped which made it so much more manageable. He created a tool to clean the walls, fans and ceilings and it feels so much cleaner. A sparkling, clean home. Ahhhhhh. Now can it just stay this way forever?

6. Host one event this month. I didn't end up hosting brunch this month like I planned, but I do have my brunch event on the calendar for early February. My brother came into town for my grandma's funeral the past weekend and stayed with us. It was nice to have him and spend quality time with him.

What are your goals this month?

Oh my gosh I hate how the clean feeling lasts like one day only!! That tool sounds cool, shark tank ;)
