December Goals

I can't believe it's the last month of the year! It really is scary how fast time flies. It's a fresh start of a new month though and I love a good fresh start! Here are the goals for this month:

1. Savor the season. In general I'm trying to live in the moment. I think it really is the secret to happiness. But especially in this season I want to savor it. Be present. Enjoy buying gifts for the people I love. Watch the Christmas movies and sing all the Christmas songs. Experience the peace and joy that this season is about. Spend time with the people I love. Relax and enjoy the time off. Enjoy the Christmas decorations and the glow of all the lights. To not get caught up in the materialism and over stress and overbook myself. I want to say yes to the things I truly want to do that will be life giving. Take time to be thankful for my blessings. Live in each moment I'm given and not take it for granted.

2. Lose five pounds this month. I will eventually lose ten pounds a month, but December is probably not going to be it. I plan to prep and cook super clean so I can be a little looser during the week of Christmas and New Years.

3. Do a morning devotional every morning. This is starting to become a habit again and I love it. I forgot how much more centered and at peace I feel once I start my day this way.

4. Do one craft this month. I really want to be crafty and I hope by putting this as a goal I will be. I know I need to organize something with a friend and then it will happen so that's what I'll do. It really does help by putting these goals out here. It holds me accountable. I really do want to strive to do one craft a month and hope it becomes a habit like the rest of these are.

5. Read 3 books this month. I really love that I made this a goal each month because I really enjoy reading so much! I always have my nose in the book and I'm making monthly trips to the library and it just makes me so happy.

6. Cook one new recipe a week. I really need to get my butt into gear with cooking. I'm just been making the same old thing or making G grill. Or take out. But I'm sick of take out. I started watching Top Chef: Boston and I'm inspired again!

7. Host dinner once this month. I'm telling you, once I took this off my monthly goals I stopped doing it! So I need to keep these on to hold me accountable. We didn't host anyone at all in November, eek! I really love just inviting people in. Serving them. Getting to know them better. Enjoying fellowship and community. I really would love to host a wine and cheese party with our neighbors because we don't them that well. December might be too ambitious, but I would love to do that someday.

I tried to keep it kinda light. Give myself some grace because this can be a busy season and I don't want to get too busy or put too much pressure on myself that I end up not enjoying all this season has to offer. Forget the meaning of it all. The magic. I just kept it light to things I really want to do that are important to me.

What are your goals this month?

I should think about doing these goals. It has helped you be so productive and focused! I like how you said you wanted to be done Christmas shopping by the 15th so that you could enjoy the season. I would love to do that goal too, except people haven't given me their Christmas wish lists! So maybe they will just get what I want to buy them :-)
