My Style

I was never into fashion. I didn't like shopping. In every other way I was your typical girly girl. But not when it came to fashion and shopping. Until now. I think it's because growing up I just wanted to fit in. I wore what was popular. What everyone else was wearing. What's the fun in that? I was just fitting into a mold and wasn't being me.

I always hoped when I was in my 30s I wouldn't care what people thought and it's HAPPENING. I wear what makes me happy. I wear stuff that I love. And you guys, my style is a little crazy and I love it.

I love shopping now. I love defining who I am with clothes. I love being a little adventurous and wearing things I thought I never would or could. It's fun.

I am not a fashionista by ANY means, but I always get compliments on my outfits and I'm not gonna lie. I love it. It's an added bonus, ha!

This style also runs into decorating style too. I used to decorate my house based on what others would like. It sounds ridiculous, but it's true. But I found that once I started decorating my house with what I love. With what makes me happy. I just love my house even more and I don't compare my house to other houses because I made my house distinctly us.

The zebra chair for example. It's a little bold and a little crazy and at first I was like "but what will people think?!" But then I realized it doesn't matter what they think. They don't have to live with it. And I took the risk and it has become my favorite piece in my whole house.

Now we are looking at paint colors to paint our kitchen and brighten it up. Bring it up to date. We painted our wood chairs bright yellow and I have a bright orange coffee maker. And you know what? I LOVE IT. It makes me extremely happy everyday single day. And I think that is all that matters.

Decorate your house with what you love. Decorate yourself with what you love. Be uniquely you. And embrace it! I'm bummed it took me 30 years to realize this, but I'm thankful that I did finally realize it. And that is all that really matters anyway.

so true about decorating yourself and your home with what YOU love. yay you!! great job waiting out the scale! you know what i love? that you really seem to enjoy what you are eating. being intentional about what you are fueling your body with seems only to have enhanced that. plus, the way you are eating is not only sustainable, but fun and varied - it screams lifestyle, not diet. oh, and great job asking them to price match the grill - and getting an even better price! i need to learn to ask more often.

Looking forward to seeing the kitchen! I love a pop of color, I got a aqua blue kitchenaid and my mom kept asking if I wanted to trade it for white or silver. Nope! I love the cheery blue!
