This was a great week! I took my setback and made it my comeback.
It made me more determined than ever to do this thing. Thank you all for your
sweet comments and encouragement. I need it. You do not know how much it means
to me. It’s why I share my weight loss journey on the blog. And if I’m being
really honest, the anonymous comment on last Friday’s post was just the
motivation I needed. It was the kick in the butt I didn't even know I needed!
The
stats this week:
Pounds
Lost: 2 lbs
Total
Pounds Lost: 4 lbs
Pounds
to Go: 36 lbs
WOOHOO!
The ironic thing is I lost weight this week and didn't run at all. WHAT?! That’s
right. I’m walking the 5k. How did I not know that was an option until last
weekend? I was so stressed out about it and dreaded my running days. It was
miserable. But now? I cannot wait! I love walking! It was a week of coming to
terms with being okay not being a runner. I’m a firm believer in not doing what
you hate. Yes, we all need to do things we don’t like. It's a part of life. But when it comes to
exercise I have to at least NOT dread it, you know? So I’ll never run a
marathon, but I’m okay with that. I can do P90X. The Shred. And I’m just fine
with that. I still worked out this week and adapted the 30 miles in 30 days plan, but I subbed Turbo Jam for running. My SIL gave me Turbo Jam and I'm obsessed. It is a lot of fun! Here is the routine I followed this
week:
Sunday
– Rest
Monday
– Turbo Jam
Tuesday
– Ripped in 30 Level 2
Wednesday
– Turbo Jam
Thursday
– The Shred Level 2
Friday
– Jillian’s Six Weeks to a Six Pack
Saturday
– Walk 5k
The
biggest difference this week was really watching everything single thing I ate.
I kept my calories to 1200 and filled up on Go Lean Granola and Almond Milk,
carrots, brussel sprouts, grilled chicken, salsa chicken, etc. I measured every
portion and did not eat after 7:00 p.m. I enjoyed cooking this week because I
had great success in the kitchen. The salsa chicken was a huge hit, as usual.
The enchilada soup was amazing! I highly recommend this recipe! It was easy,
delicious and filling. Also, it makes great leftovers for lunch the next day. I didn't use the cream cheese and didn't miss it!
I
feel great. I do not feel deprived and I feel like I got this now. I’m ready to
keep on keeping on and watch those pounds disappear. I know it takes patience.
Slowly but surely I will win this race. I find comfort in knowing that in two
short months I could be 20 pounds lighter and back into all of my clothes
again. Closer to my goal. Closer to losing 40 pounds and never finding them
again.
How
are you guys doing? Anyone else love Turbo Jam as much as I do?

Great job this week girl! It really is all about eating when you need to shed pounds. That's why I've been struggling because I've been too lax. I need to be more strict with myself, like you are. Keep it up!
great job girl! and I hear you on HATING to run...I'm just a runner and I'm ok with that!
Good job on the weight loss! I am thinking though that you will probably see more/better results if you up your calories. With the amount of working out you are doing you really need more than 1200 calories. 1200 is the very base line you should have and if you are working out you are burning probably 300-400 calories per your workout... meaning you are really only getting 900 or so calories a day. So few calories can make your body hold on to whatever it has and even cause weight gain. I have definitely seen this in myself and do better with a few hundred more calories.
I do have to agree with a part of the anonymous comment about the processed food. I used to eat so much prepared foods (they are so quick- you can just grab and go!) but really noticed a difference in my weight loss when I started sticking to "real" foods- fruits, veggies, whole grains- nothing with weird chemicals in the ingredients (the majority of the time- we do eat "bad" stuff on occasion!). Try having protein (hard boiled egg, natural cheesestick, a serving of nuts, peanut butter, Greek yogurt) with each meal- this will really help keep you full, which I noticed prepared foods don't do well at all & then you end up eating more than you should.
My husband doesn't need to lose weight, but he basically eliminated his horrible weekly migraines and went from 2+ cavities every 6 months to 0 for a couple of years now.
Just some things to think on! You are so good about your workouts! That is somewhere that I really need to improve.
Awesome job!!
I think the key to this weight loss thing is everything in moderation. I agree that "clean" eating is the healthiest, but it's just not realistic for me 24/7. I'm a busy working mom who sometimes needs top rely on the processed foods. I eat Kashi waffles pretty much every morning for breakfast and have still managed to lose 100 lbs! So don't beat yourself up too much, you're doing great!
I work in the fitness community and your biggest roadblock to losing weight seems to be your lack of calories. You are holding onto your weight because your body doesn't think it needs to lose it. Also, grab and go foods aren't usually healthy calories. Good luck with your journey!
