Christmas Week Rewind

We had a wonderful Christmas with my family. We went to my brother and SIL's house on Sunday to see their gorgeous new kitchen. I promise I'll show pics after the lighting goes in. It is spectacular and I am dying to do our kitchen now. But I digress.

My brother and SIL hosted a wonderful Christmas at their home. We ate flank steak, asparagus, roasted red skin potatoes and salad. Delicious! We talked, laughed, drank wine, ate good food, went for a little drive to see some really done up houses, and opened gifts. This one house had lights synchronized to an ipod channel of Christmas music like the Transiberian Orchestra and I could watch it all night long. So pretty.

Garth and I were spoiled rotten by our family this year. Garth was a kid in a candy store with his knife set:

more Manchester United memorabilia:

and a new dart board:

I made out like a bandit too. I am obsessed with my new duvet:

and wall clock:

and my new coffee mugs and plates in white:

We are so blessed. Garth and I spent most of Christmas Day putting up the dart board and wall clock. We played some darts and ping pong with Garth's new paddles. Then we hung up a Manchester United towel my parents' gave him:

and framed Garth's Chicago Marathon bib:

So here is Garth's man cave almost complete now with the dart board and poker table (aka the patio set)

and his other side of the basement with the ping pong table and TV area:

I'm pretty happy with all we have done to make the basement a nice man cave for Garth. The pictures don't do justice of how complete it looks. Now it's time to work on the kitchen? Haha maybe in the spring when the weather is nicer we will start painting the cabinets. But for now we put rope lights above the cabinets and I love the glow it creates:

So it was a productive Christmas day. I even shoveled the inch and a half of snow we got on Christmas Eve. We went to my parents house for Christmas dinner and then watched A Charlie Brown Christmas. A family tradition! It was a perfect holiday with the people I love most with a few little home projects thrown in. I don't think it gets better than that!
