5:30 a.m. My alarm goes off, but I’m working from
home today because the garage door repairman is coming so I press snooze.
6:00 a.m. My alarm goes off again and I press
snooze.
6:30 a.m. My alarm goes off and I finally get out
of bed and make coffee and start my devotional.
7:00 a.m. I am so tired today that the thought of
working out with Jillian is too much to bear. I decide on the elliptical today,
instead.
7:30 a.m. Grab a Luna bar, shower and put on
sweats. Gotta love working from home!
8:00 a.m. Turn on my laptop, pour a glass of tea
and turn on the TV. Check emails, purchase parts, send out invoices, follow-up
on past due invoices.
1:00 p.m. No sign of the garage door repairman yet
so I take my lunch and sit on the deck reading a magazine while eating a tuna
melt. Did I mention how much I love working from home?!
2:00 p.m. Back to work. Sending out invoices and
follow-up on past due invoices. Purchase a couple parts for service.
3:00 p.m. Get a call that the repairmen will
arrive at 4:00. Woohoo! Our torsion spring snapped on our garage door last
week. I was annoyed because this was our third garage door opener related issue
in our 1.5 short years of being homeowners. But I learned that torsion springs
are only designed to last for about 10,000 cycles (which is about 13 to 15
years depending on how much you use the garage door) and our house is 14 years
old so it was about due. I also learned that torsion springs can be dangerous
if unfamiliar with springs and could lead to a loss of limb or life. As much as
I hate calling a repairman, I did not want Garth in danger!
4:00 p.m. FireHouse Doors arrive right on time.
They were the nicest guys, reasonably priced and done with the repair in 20
minutes. I was so happy with them and would recommend them to anyone!
5:10 p.m. Done with work for the day. Shut the
computer off, put it away and start dinner. No commute! Did I mention how much
I love working from home?!
5:30 p.m. It’s pasta Friday so I start boiling the
noodles and Garth takes over browning the ground turkey, cutting the peppers
and finishing dinner. Garth makes the best spaghetti, seriously. He made it on
our first date and he has been in charge of making it ever since. It is so
good!
6:05 p.m. Sit in front of the TV for some House Hunters and enjoy our pasta and
talk about our day.
7:00 p.m. I do the dishes and then we go for a
walk around the subdivision. Then Garth watched the Tigers game and I read a
magazine.
10:00 p.m. Wash my face, put on my pajamas and go
to bed. Yes, we go to bed at 10 even on a weekend night. We are THAT cool. In
our defense, Garth has to wake up at 5:30 to do his ten mile run in the morning.
Well, there you have it. A week in my life. It’s
not the most exciting life, but it’s my life and I love it!
