Painting the Trim Project: Part 2

I went to dinner and a movie with a few girlfriends the night Garth started painting so there is a lack of painting pictures. Here is one I snapped before I left him:

He finished the dining room and mantle on Saturday. Sunday we spend the entire day painting the hallways, the living room, and kitchen. Oh and the door frames. How can I forget those dang door frames. Such a pain! Although I think Garth would disagree and say the kitchen was the biggest pain. Oh heck, it was all a pain.

The awkward angle of painting. Taping the carpet. Oil based paint going through the tape. Oh the horror. But it was worth the back aches and countless touch-ups. This room is the most dramatic and definitely my favorite. I think it is all set up for wainscoting, no? And some new chair covers. The endless hours of painting and repainting (three coats!!). It was all worth it because I love the outcome.
I just think our house looks so modern now. And fresh. It feels so light and airy. I just adore it.

I feel like it was always like this. I can't remember it any other way. Isn't it funny how quickly you can forget all the hard work once it is all done and cleaned up? It was a fun weekend project and I'm so glad we did it. Now I'm ready to paint the upstairs!;)

I think it looks great! It is funny how fast we can forget the hard work and mess :) for me it isn't the work so much as it is the mess, I hate the mess that projects create!
