Behind the Times

Garth and I don't have cable.

We don't have internet.

We don't text.

We don't have iphones.

We don't have a blackberry.

We don't have a dishwasher.

But...

We do have Christ as our Savior.

We do have unconditional love for each other.

We do have a roof over our head.

We do have the love of family and friends.

And those are the things that matter and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Chris and I made due without cable and internet for two years- but then finally broke down and bought internet (although we are still cable free!). I am proud of you guys for not having cable or internet- it is tough. I know!

I loved this. Materialistic things can not even come close to the things in life that really matter. So many people live their lives for pleasure and for "things" that they forget who and what is of utmost importance. You're an inspiration.

Amen! Good for you!

I am so impressed. That is amazing. Just goes to show you how much more love and God mean than all these materialistic items in our lives.

Very impressive. People (including myself) envy people like you who are strong, in love, and positive. Great great start to my morning.

You guys have the most important things in life! :0) We would spend a lot more time together if we didn't have cable.

What a wonderful post! We don't have cable either and I love it, because we don't get sucked into television, and we are able to spend more QT together.

You're awesome!

Great post! It's so true that we don't "need" all of this. Sometimes we have to designate a no computer night to have quality time. We could so do without!

I'm proud of you guys- we probably match up with about half of this- but it's so true- having Christ beats anything we could want on this earth. :)

I think it is wonderful! You and Garth are bestfriends, daily you guys learn and grow together making your relationship stronger! Who needs all that stuff??

You two are so sweet! Way to go!

I absolutely LOVE this post!

We just got internet at home about two months ago [for grad school]. We always said that we didn't need the technology because God gave us our ability to communicate through love.

I am saving this post!

We are very similar on lack of up-to-date technology. But, why spend the money if you wouldn't use it.

I like the post - you have your priorities in line. =)

What a great post! We do not text or have IPhones either... We do without when we can too! God is so much better than all of that "stuff"!

We also don't have cable or an iPhone, Blackberry, etc. DH doesn't text and I rarely do.

We do have internet & a dishwasher though. I have to admit, I love both.

I think the world would be a better place if people didn't focus so much on the materialistic things. Sadly, I don't think that will change.

all the things that matter, well except, i think i would be miserable without the dishwasher, lol. :-)

I love this post. Isn't it funny how when you have tv, internet etc. you think you can't live without them, but actually life without them is pretty great! No distractions, just simple pleasures.

This was too sweet! I also don't have an iphone or blackberry. I'm kind of like Carrie in SATC the movie where Samantha hands her the iphone and she's like huh?! Do not get all that technology! However, the hubs is very tech savvy so we do have cable, internet, and even satellite. Kind of drives me crazy. I could go without!!

And so far on DWTS I'm loving Ty because he is just so cute and he just tries so darn hard and I don't want him to be disappointed!! I also like Melissa and Shawn. I love Shawn as a whole though.. She can do no wrong!!
What about you?

Oh! And the football player! Because who doesn't wanna cheer for the football players?!?

Great post but one question. If you don't have internet where do you post from?

Love this post. My husband is willing to sacrifice lots of things but cable, sportscenter and his PS3 aren't going anywhere. Me? I'm glad to know I'm not the only person who doesn't own a blackberry.

what a great post! How true, that its not all the "little" things that make your life great but a good love of the Lord and a good love of your life.

I'm over keeping up with the jones, look at where its getting people. I just want to be happy and content being US.

Thanks for the nice comment on my blog. Hope to see you back again!
