Life Lately: Week 23

This is what the past week looked like.

June bloom.

I finally finished this book.

It was not a light summer read I usually read this time of year and it was about 200 pages too long, but I was determined to finish for book club.

The air quality has been bad this week because of the Canadian fires.

The sunsets have been eerie and we could even smell the smoke.

I made this recipe and then we served it over pasta and tomato sauce.

The flowers are flourishing.

I love this quote from The Power of Intention.

Having a moment with fruit right now.

It's so nice to walk Manny in the mornings again.

Shrimp or chicken taco bowls with Aldi quinoa, peppers, onions, avocado...

And this dressing.

EPIC.

As my bestie Kate would say - find glimmers of joy in your day.

This was one of those glimmers on a walk.

Flowers as big as my head.

Our air quality has been bad, but not as bad as New York.

Another day, another taco bowl.

Horrocks for book club.

I didn't really love the book and I felt I was in the minority based on reviews so I went into book club with curiosity on why others liked it so much.

Verdict? I liked it a bit more and rated it 3/5 starts on Good Reads.

A few gems from Bible Recap:

"Suffering is what produced some of their wisdom, teaching them things they wouldn't know otherwise."

"Answers are a threat; because they require something of us - they require us to submit to the answers we find."

Two presentations down, two presentations to go.

My last vacuum died after a ten year run (which is really good considering my history!) and this new beauty arrived.

I took a picture of the vacuum and Manny was so confused that I was taking a picture without him in it so he posed next to the vacuum, ha!

Greek bowls are back (and air fried chickpeas are a game changer).

8:12 p.m.

9:12 p.m.

What a difference an hour makes!

Slow Cooker Italian Chicken.

I walked M downtown to the groomers.

My town looks like a Hallmark movie.

All clean and looking handsome.

I met my mom at Tavern 109...

Let our day of fun beGIN.

We shared the peach salad and a few apps (white fish dip!).

We walked around downtown Williamston and shopped.

Feeling zen.

I love some good wall art.

The cutest book store.

This planner is so cute.

We ate ice cream by the river and chatted.

It was just the perfect afternoon.

My finds from the day.

Ball of fire.

Someone got a new toy from Aldi and the quality is pretty impressive.

Read: he hasn't ruined it yet!

G's famous burger.

Sorbet skies.

I finished my very first book on the kindle - Every Summer After.

4/5 stars.

The breakfast pizza at Aldi's is delicious.

10/10 would recommend.

Zazu spotting.

The Arnold doc was a great watch.

His life is interesting, his drive is impressive, and I found him inspiring.

Rainy day vibes.

Chicken Pesto Pasta for Sunday supper.

Our sweet neighbor brought us an incredible lemon dessert.

A cool way to look at doing the mundane (but important!) things.

I really resonated with this because after my injury this was me.

Crying watching my neighbors swim without me or when someone jumped off a boat.

It didn't help that it was sunny and 90 degrees, I was in pain, and I had to clean this ugly wound.

Time passed and I started healing.

I reframed the situation to what I could do with this extra time I found myself with (journaling, reading, watching good TV).

It was an important lesson that resilience can look like sadness/anger/frustration because that is part of the process to get back to the hopeful/optimistic/happy person I know I am.

Be mindful.

It will always be you.

Love.

Good reminder.

The mastery of hardships.

I feel seen.

So why do we live like we have all the time in the world?

Insightful view of what being productive means.

I have totally moved on.

Accurate.

Right!

You can't un-see it.

Wild times.

I want this to catch on please and thanks.

A sparkling joke!

What do you put into your greek bowls? Do you use italian dressing and riced cauliflower? I want to try to make one and it looks so good.

I wasn’t a fan really of The Huntress if I remember right. Food looks yummy!

I have two ways of making the Greek bowl - one is raw chickpeas, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, feta and balsamic dressing. My new fave is air friend chickpeas, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, feta, riced cauliflower and Cedar's feta dip. Both are delicious!
