Life Updates.

1. We close on our house in a week. A WEEK. Holy cow!!! It happened so fast, but I wouldn't want it any other way.

2. Garth and I have been having packing parties every night this week.

3. We are so stinkin' excited we can hardly stand it.

4. We are caught up with Big Bang Theory and kinda bummed it's over. Any suggestions for what we should get next?

5. Garth and I are reading The Five Love Languages and seriously loving it.

6. There is too much football on right now...and soccer.

7. I am feeling back to normal post surgery. My eye has stopped hurting and my doctor gave me the okay to lift, bend, and drive last week. Words do not describe how incredible it felt to get off the couch and get back to normal life.

8. I am thankful my vision is starting to come back slowly but surely. Praise God! It will still be about a month before I regain vision and up to a year to fully get it back.

9. I leave with you a picture of my awesome eye patch I get to wear to bed. Happy Thursday!

Road to Recovery.

Thank you all so much for your sweet comments, prayers, and thoughts. They were an incredible source of encouragement to me as I recovered.
The surgery went well and I am recovering slowly but surely. I was told because of my health and age I have a 95% chance of regaining vision in my right eye so that is excellent news. Praise God! The surgery was a bit more intensive so recovery has been slower than I thought, but I am improving. I won't regain my vision for at least another month and continuing to a year so I have been resting my eyes as much as possible and taking it easy.
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a very happy New Year!!!

Life in List Form.

1. Saturday morning did not go as planned. I woke up with a very swollen eye, freaked out, and Garth took me to the doctor. I found out after 27 years of being allergy-free, I know have allergies. Awesome. The swelling is gone, but I have to wear my glasses and take eye drops twice a day.

2. We found our dream house last week while house hunting. It's at the top of our price range and it does not have much of a backyard so we feel a bit anxious about it. We are going to look at some more houses this week and continue to think things over.

3. I turn in my Saturn Ion this week. It was the first car I ever bought and I loved that car so it's a bit sentimental for me. That being said, I am VERY excited for my new car!

4. We decided to lease again because it is just easier with buying a house soon. We decided on the Chevy Malibu and I'm very excited about it!

5. I haven't weighed myself in two months and finally did and found I had gained ten pounds. TEN! What the heck?!

6. I have started doing the Shred again, walking on my lunch breaks, counting calories, and I have lost five pounds and hope to lose another two or three this week.

7. I am more determined than ever to get to my goal weight now. I was five pounds away from it before but this time I will get there. I'll be keeping you posted!

8. My cousin's bridal shower was yesterday and it was so good to see her, as well as my aunts and cousins. Fun times.

9. I still love my job. I work with great people and I enjoy what I do. This Friday we have a retreat on Lake Michigan with the co-workers and their families. It should be a good time!

Happenings.

1. Thanks so much for all of your input. It is helpful and I enjoyed hearing your stories of how you found your house.

2. To answer some of your questions, we are pre-approved already and we do have the month-to-month option. As well as a three-month and six-month option. Decisions, decisions.

3. We actually found three houses we fell in love with. The first house went pending a few days after we saw it, the second house we loved went pending yesterday, and the third house was beautiful but needed way too much work. New windows, new roof, new heater, and not to mention new carpet (just say no to mustard yellow). If we wanted to sell in 5 to 10 years it just wouldn't be worth it.

4. To clear up a bit of confusion, the house I posted here was the house actually used for the show. It is not the house we are considering buying, it just slightly resembles the DC house. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

5. The Dawson's Creek look alike house is still on the market and we are scheduled to see it next week. As much as I love it, I'm not sure it will be "the one." It's a foreclosure and is being sold as is which makes us hesitant. From the pictures online it seems to need work, but we'll check it out and keep you posted.

6. I have two big events this weekend and I'm getting stressed. I have some 14 hour days ahead of me. UGH.

7. I watched Invictus last night with my rugby-lvoing South African and it was so good! I didn't expect to like it because I'm not a big fan of Clint Eastwood's movies but I loved it.

8. It was really neat to watch this with Garth because he was in South Africa when these events occurred. It took him back and made him miss South Africa.

9. Today is my little brother's 23rd birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRAD!

The Good, Bad, and the Ugly

The Good: Garth made this amazing chicken pesto pasta last night. So delish! How lucky am I to have a wonderful hubby who goes grocery shopping and has dinner almost finished when I get home from work?! He is the best!
The Bad: After our delish dinner we were so excited to watch "Tropic Thunder." We have been waiting for this movie to come to DVD! Sadly, the movie was NOT funny at all. Dropping the f bomb every other minute is not funny to me, sorry.
The Ugly: My favorite couple from "Dancing with the Stars" went home! AND I gained a pound this week, GRRR!

Event Follow-Up

Thank you all for your sweet comments, they mean so much to me! The event went really well. The set-up went smoothly, the band played fantatsic, the speaker did an awesome job, the volunteers made my job easy, the guests had a great time, the food was incredible (so I heard), and money was raised!
I'm glad it's over. Don't get me wrong, I had a blast planning and implementing, but I am relieved to have my life back. It was constantly on my mind but now I can breathe again. I had the day off yesterday so Garth took me out to breakfast and then I lounged around in my pajamas all day and read, took a bubble bath, and cleaned. Garth brought home Chinese food and we had a James Bond movie marathon night. It was the best day and now I'm feeling refreshed and ready to start the follow-up process!
In other news...I won Mrs. Guru's giveaway and I am so excited! You should def check out her blog!
And the best news is I lost another 2 pounds this week! It was pretty easy to loose the weight because I was so busy I hardly had time to eat and I ran around like a crazy lady. But now that the gala is over I'll be hitting the gym again! This means I am beating Garth at our little competition right now as he is maintaining. "Wicked" here I come!!!!
