Book Review

TRUTH. Since I've been on such a reading kick this year I thought I would share what I've been reading.

I read Andy's first book, Most Talkative, last month so I was excited to read his newest book. He is hilarious! And as a Real Housewives fan I loved hearing how the show came to be (in his first book) and all the dirt on the ladies (in this book). Also, can we talk about his pup? LOVE! His relationship with Wacha reminds me so much of my relationship with Manny. It was a fun, easy read.

I've heard a lot of good things about Elin Hilderbrand so I was excited to give one of her books a try. I'm really glad I loved it because she has a bunch more books for me to read. YES! I love finding an author I love. Such a great story that I couldn't put down. I had to see how it ended. I really want to go to Nantucket now. I loved the characters and hearing about what life is like when you work at a restaurant.

I haven't read one of her books in a really long time, but I saw this at the library and it caught my eye. I didn't have super high hopes for the book for some reason. But it was awesome! My favorite of these three. So hilarious. I laughed out loud a few times. Jen and her husband, Fletch, remind me of myself and G. Our relationships are similar.

The book is about Jen spending a year living like Martha Stewart. From cooking to crafting to organizing to party throwing. It was actually inspiring. She mentioned tackling a closet after stressing about it for months and it only took an hour. That story actually inspired me to clean out the car and a few kitchen cabinets. All that stress for an hour of my life! And now everything is organized and ready to go!

Most surprising in this book was the life lesson I learned from it. Spoiler alert: Her sweet pit bull was diagnosed with cancer and had chemo for three years. She spent those three years constantly worrying about her and thinking of losing her. Then when she did pass away it didn't make the pain any easier. She wished she had let go of the worry and just enjoyed the time she had with her pup. It was a good reminder because I'm guilty of doing that. For getting mad when Manny flips out on our walk but then remembering how Jen would give anything for her pup to have that kind of energy. Worrying about the future or the worst case scenario isn't going to make the reality any easier. So just enjoy each moment. Live in the present and be thankful for what you have.

So yes, I highly recommend this book!

What are you reading?
