Thursday night we had some friends over for a barbecue. It was the perfect weather for a night outside on the deck. These pups were mesmerized by the tennis ball and Jess was quite the dog whisperer.
Manny was tired from all the playing and wanted to cuddle with Felicia.
Friday after work we were going to our friend's lake house so we dropped Manny off with his friend Gambit. They are seriously the best of friends and it was so cute to watch them reunite and immediately start playing. Two puppy play dates in a row? He was going to cash out!
We left work a bit early to head up north. You know you're in northern Michigan when you get to listen to The Moose.
We made it to the lake house at 7:00 and unpacked and headed to the pontoon to enjoy sunset. Manny needed some time to unwind from the car ride. He got sick about an hour into the trip and was pretty uneasy the whole time. To say he was happy to be on solid ground would be an understatement.
We ate cheese and crackers with a glass of wine while we enjoyed the show.
Yep. It was definitely worth leaving work early for this sunset!
We decided to make a fire because we never had before. Everything was wet so G had a hard time starting a fire. But if you know G you know he is obsessed with fire and this just wouldn't do.
He somehow managed to work his magic and turn that into THIS. It was getting chilly out so this fire was perfect. It was hot and gave off lots of light. We sat out here for a few hours just talking before calling it a night.
Saturday morning I slept in until 8:00 and made coffee and headed to the pontoon to drink it and relax. G was up earlier and caught a beautiful sunrise. There was a fisherman near by that caught a huge fish, but it went under a log and snapped his line. We did see him catch a pretty big fish later in the morning. He was on a roll!
It was cloudy and cool so we came in and made breakfast and watched a little bit of Friends.
It started getting warmer so G and I kayaked for an hour and a half. I'm still sore! The water was like glass so it was relaxing though.
We read on the pontoon for a bit and then took Manny paddle boating. He didn't love it, but he didn't hate it so progress.
We saw two eagles!!! You can't really see them, but they were so pretty. And I didn't realize how big they were until they flew into the trees.
Again, another terrible picture but we saw a loon and her baby on our paddle boat ride too.
We came back to the pontoon and read for a while.
While G was making lunch I tried to take a picture of Manny with this funny hat on. It turns out Manny really hates hats and this was harder than I expected it to be.
We ate sandwiches on the boat.
Then the sun finally came out and it got HOT so we floated on the water the rest of the afternoon. Perfection!
We came in at 6:00, showered and warmed up leftovers from the barbecue Thursday.
We went back onto the boat after dinner for sunset. This was my favorite part of the whole weekend. G was playing good music. Manny was cuddled on my lap. The sunset was gorgeous. Not a cloud in the sky. Warm weather. No bugs. Sooooo relaxing and peaceful! We came in at 8:00 and watched Friends Season 4 before calling it a night. I forgot how funny this season is!
Sunday morning we slept in and grabbed coffee and headed to the pontoon. We are nothing if not creatures of habit. :)
We spent the rest of the morning chilling on the boat. I did a lot of reading. Manny was mesmerized by all the boats going by. He could watch them all day, I think.
We took one more paddle boat ride at noon around the lake. I love looking at the houses on the lake and just being on the water. We soooo need a house on the lake!
We came in around 1:00 and cleaned the house, packed the car and were on the road at 2:00. We got home at 5:00, unpacked, did laundry and I was in bed by 9:00. I was so worn out from all the relaxing, I guess!
Another great summer weekend in the books! How was your weekend?

Looks so wonderful! Wait whose house is this again?
A sweet friend and co-worker who generously lets us use his lake house when he isn't using it. He rather people enjoy it if he can't and I'm happy to help with that! :)
So I had to comment on The Moose station. My husband is from ME and we always know we're nearing his hometown when we can get their version of the Moose on the radio. I normally think that Maine has a lot in common with Wisconsin but this is clearly a point for Michigan! :)
