Weekend Recap

This weekend was one of those really great ones that you just don't want to end and when it does come to an end you're sad about it. Friday night we went to dinner with a friend from work and her husband. It's one of those couples you really hit it off with at the Christmas party and always talk about how we should get together and months go by and you never did anything about it. So we did something about it! After reading Love Does I really try to not say "we should do ..." because it won't happen. So I told Garth lets pick a date and invite them out and Friday night was the night. We hit it off swimmingly and they came over after and we sat on the deck talking for hours. It got chilly so we had an impromptu bonfire. We talked about our goals, dreams, how we each met and proposed, etc. It was such a fun night! I'm so glad we took the chance and started a new friendship.

Saturday we slept in and drank coffee on the deck. It was sunny and 80 degrees so I took Manny for a long walk while G mowed the front and back. My irises are coming up, yay! When I got back from my walk I (finally!) spray painted my kitchen chairs, but more on that another day. G and I put up the gazebo and brought up our patio set.

We bought these fun party lights and a mosquito torch to complete the look. LOVE IT. We pretty much spent the rest of the day in the gazebo reading and relaxing. We ate dinner out there and couldn't wait for it to get dark enough to turn the lights on. It's the little things, you know? It was a great day of yard work and rest.

Sunday we went to church, took Manny for a walk and then got ready for friends to come over. I found this Pinterest recipe for Mini Tacos so we gave them a whirl and they were a hit! We will definitely make these again.

I love Mexican food.  It's fun to serve to guests because you can serve chips and salsa and offer all kinds of toppings in an easy, serve yourself type format. We sat on the deck and talked for 7 hours. Gotta love friends like that where time just flies by because you don't run out of stuff to talk about. The kind of friends you can be yourself with and have good, authentic conversations. Good times.

Monday I slept in until 9:30! The latest I have slept in for quite some time. Funny story: On the weekends G gets up around 7 or 8 and Manny always gets up with him. But not this day. Manny slept in until 9:30 too! It was so cute. I guess he was really beat! I watched CSI and drank my coffee. G made these killer breakfast burritos that are a new favorite! We got ready for the day, took Manny for a quick walk and then headed to a BBQ at my brother and SIL's house.

We got to spend some precious time with sweet Ella. She was so happy and she even snuggled with me. So sweet! We enjoyed quality time with Eric, Jess, my parents and Jess' parts and Ella. We sat outside soaking up the warm weather and Eric grilled steak, asparagus and my mom made potatoes. Yum! It was a fun afternoon.

We left around 5 and headed home to relax a bit before another work week. We rented Gravity because so many people had raved about it. Don't get mad at me for saying this, but I didn't get what all the fuss was about. I found the movie quite boring actually. Even a bit annoying.

It was a great weekend though. One of those weekends that actually did feel long and that I truly savored. It's summer time in Michigan, ya'll!

How was your long weekend?

Sounds fun!! Glad you have some
good friends :) I wasn't that excited about gravity either!

I can not see that Gravity would be any good on a small screen. It was good in the theater but I can see hoe it would be boring on a small screen at home.

It rained and even flooded here all weekend, but we needed it so much that it was a blessing!

Sounds like a wonderful weekend! I agree with AfterGirl - I could see how Gravity on the small screen wouldn't be good. It wasn't too bad on the big screen...

Husband and I worked on getting the sailboat ready...didn't go sailing - hopefully next weekend! Can hardly wait to get out on the water!!!
