Top Ten Christmas Movies

I'm not sure the reason, but I am REALLY looking forward to the Christmas season this year. I'm not sure if it is all the fun family plans, the time off work, the houses twinkling, the hot chocolate brewing, or what but this year I am more excited than years past. I think the real reason is I'm making a deliberate effort to slow down and truly enjoy this magical time. I feel last year went too quickly and I didn't get to watch all my favorite Christmas movies and truly savor the season. This year I plan to watch every one of my top ten favorite Christmas movies. I have seen a lot of bloggers sharing their top ten list so I thought I would share mine as well.

10. The Mistle-Tones. I'm not afraid to admit I love a cheesy musical every once and a while. Tia Mowry and Tori Spelling star in it, I mean, what's not to love?!

9. The Family Stone. I just love the family dynamic in this film.

8. Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas. I'm obsessed with Dr. Seuss books and this is such a good one. Also? Jim Cary as the Grinch? Genius.

7. The Santa ClauseI love Tim Allen as Santa. Such a sweet, fun movie.

6. Four Christmases. I enjoy a good, holiday romantic comedy especially starring Reese Witherspoon. Love her.

5. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. Definitely a favorite growing up and renting it every year with my family. Watching it during this season always brings feelings of nostalgia.

4. Home Alone. This is just one of those movies that never gets old to me. I love it so much. I still find myself engrossed in the movie rooting for Kevin to get the bad guys after all these years.

3. Elf. This is such a classic to me. It is hilarious and the music is awesome. Garth and I can quote the whole movie and so all year long.

2. It's a Wonderful Life. I just love the message of this movie. I have yet to make Garth watch it and fully appreciate the greatness that it is this movie. I think this will be the year!

1. A Charlie Brown Christmas. My favorite Christmas movie of all time. We watch it every Christmas Eve without fail. As my dad always said, "The only Christmas movie to share the real meaning of Christmas."

So that's my list. Before you comment, I know I didn't add A Christmas Story. It is just not a favorite for me. I remember watching it at my grandpa's house and being horrified of the tongue stuck to the pole scene. I can appreciate some moments when we watch it Christmas Day, but I just don't make a point to watch it every year.

What is on your top ten list?

One of my favorite movies EVER is Love Actually. I cry every single time!

I also love Elf, Christmas Vacation and It's a Wonderful Life. Christmas with the Kranks is also funny/cute and under-rated in my opinion!

Really, I'm a sucker for holiday themed movies and even the "straight to ABC Family" movies are great :)
