A Clean House

Does anyone else get stressed out when the house is a mess? Just me? I get so grumpy when the house is dirty. I know I'm kind of obsessive about a clean house. Now that I have a dog? Double that! I am even more obsessive about keeping my house clean. It's like Manny knows, too, because as soon as I put all his toys away he gets every single one back out. Ahhhhhh! I cannot handle the madness. Seriously, what is wrong with me?

I'm learning a lot about giving myself grace. The house doesn't have to be perfect. Nobody is judging me. Nobody really cares BUT me. So I'm trying to let it go. If I die tomorrow do I want people talking about how clean my house is? I rather people remember me as the person who was always welcoming them into their house even if there was dust on the coffee table.

All that being said, I still find it a lot more difficult to keep my house clean with a dog. He brings in leaves and flowers (he is always eating my roses, gah!) and trails in dirt and I find myself spending every evening cleaning the house ON TOP OF doing a deep clean on Saturdays. It's getting to be a bit much, as you can tell.

I found this article on Pinterest about spending 15 minutes a day cleaning your house so by the weekend your house is clean and you don't have to do anything. I like that a lot. As someone who thrives on to do lists and meal plans I REALLY like this.

Here is my adaption of the cleaning schedule:

Monday - Vacuum the whole house.
Tuesday - Dust the whole house.
Wednesday - Clean bathrooms.
Thursday - Clean kitchen and hardwoods.
Friday - REST.

I like this and think I'm going to try it out. I don't think kitchens could be a weekly clean, I feel I have to clean the kitchen daily, but we'll see. Hoepfully this system will free up more time with Garth and Manny and keep me less stressed out. The best part? Lazy Saturday mornings again!

Do you have a cleaning schedule? How do you manage cleaning a house and working full-time? Is it just me that stresses out about this?

I'm totally with you on a clean house is a happy house! Thankfully both my husband and I tend to be neat freaks so we keep our house clean pretty easily!

I may have posted about this before but I use a modified version of the FlyLady system. She has such positive messages and energy!

She has principles for every day, weekly and then gives you a daily mission that focuses on the "detail" in any particular room (usually takes 5-15 minutes)

It really works and has become so much of a routine that I can REALLY tell when I am not following it (I get stressed, the house feels dirtier and then I do have to spend part of my weekend making up for what I didn't do during the week)
