Basement Project

We are in the VERY beginning stages of making the basement a man cave. I will show you the whole basement once it is completed, but for the longest time it was just the ping pong table. Then we moved and my dad’s old weight machine and TV and my SIL’s elliptical down there. There was nothing wrong with that, it was a great start actually.  It was better than being bare, am I right?

It was a nice space so I wanted to use it. We already have two empty rooms upstairs so I didn’t want to waste another space. Sure, Garth lifted down there and I worked out on the elleiptical and watched TV. But watching TV on the elliptical or Garth watching it on a dining room chair just wasn’t cutting it.

Enter my parents’ green leather couch. They were getting rid of it and we were in the market for one. It is so comfortable and we love it. Now we just need some sport theme pillows and a blanket (its cold down there!).

Then I was at work placing an order for the warehouse and for spending a certain amount I got a free gift. I chose this Lions rug for the basement and it couldn’t be a more perfect fit. Love.

Ok so the next big change to the man cave was the game changer. Garth had started asking about a “push present” for after the marathon. Which is pretty hilarious and my girlfriends with kids were adamant he cannot compare a marathon to giving birth. Nonetheless, he did. He wanted a flat screen TV for the basement to watch football this fall. We set a budget and had started looking, but weren’t planning on purchasing until AFTER he had completed the marathon (in 3 weeks!!!). But there was a steal of a deal way under our budgeted price that we couldn’t refuse at Best Buy. So now we have the flat screen 32 inch to round out the man cave.

Garth is a happy guy. He loves nothing more than finishing his long runs on Saturday and cracking open his “Victory Beer” and laying on the couch downstairs in the coolness of the basement and watching football all afternoon.

I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. We still have a couple more things to hang on the walls and we need a coffee table before I show you the completed basement, but it’s coming along!
