Friday night was a HUGE night for Garth. After twelve years of playing guitar, singing, and writing music and lyrics he finally played his music for other people.
He has come a long way. He barely liked me to listen to him and he played a couple songs for my parents a couple years ago but that was it. He was very self-conscious about his music. You are your biggest critic. Isn't that the truth?
I have always thought he was incredibly talented and have been his biggest fan. His co-worker is in a band and asked him to be the opening act. I know Garth was terrified, but he agreed. He has been playing guitar with a friend of his and and asked him to join him.
That was the best thing he ever did. They sound so good together and had a blast! Me and his wife had a great time being the "groupies" as the boys liked to call us.
The crowd was fun and cheering for the guys like crazy, which I know boosted their confidence. Garth was extremely nervous. He had a bit of a panic attack the night before, but once he got up their and heard the crowd he started to relax.
But I'm not going to lie, they were both so nervous during the first song. After that though, they visibly relaxed and had fun.
And now they are hooked and ready to play again. Garth wants to work on new music and start looking for more opportunities to keep playing.
I am extremely proud of him for facing his biggest fear. I know for a fact he could not have done it without the support he had!
Seriously.
We are so blessed.
Such a great night and one I know we will never ever forget.
Good people. Good times. So proud of my baby! After his performance the boys had a celebratory beer and enjoyed the main act, Red Tape Riot.
