Baby Talk

The list of the top ten baby names of 2011 came out and I always enjoy seeing the new list. Though Garth and I are not expecting a bundle of joy anytime soon, we LOVE to talk baby names. Like seriously. We talk about baby names A LOT. Is that weird? Hmmm lets pretend it's not.

Here is the list:

Male / Female
1. Mason / Emma
2. Liam / Olivia
3. Noah / Sophia
4. Ethan / Isabella
5. Jacob / Ava
6. Aiden / Madison
7. Jackson / Emily
8. Logan / Ella
9. Jack / Abigail
10. Ryan / Lily

My thoughts on the list? Oh! So glad you asked! I love the name "Liam" but it just does not go with our last name. It is a mouthful since our last name has lots of l's and m's. My favorite names were Isabella and Jacob...and then Twilight came out and these names have been on this list the last two years. Booo! Though, by the time we are ready to have kids they may not be popular anymore.

I am currently obsessed with "Ava." So. Cute. It sounds perfect with our last name. I like it so much I've considered nixing "Pricilla" as a first name candidate. This makes my family (and Garth) very happy, I'm sure.

Garth loves the name "Abigail." He was happy to see it made the list. Also, a funny tidbit about Garth - If you have read my blog for a while, you know he grew up in South Africa. He watched a lot of American movies where the main character's name was "Jack" and wished his name was "Jack." I thought that was funny, and even funnier that "Jack" made the top ten most popular names of 2011!

What do you think of the list?

You and my sister... She LOVES the name Ava. I liked it but I loved the name we chose even more:p I too talk baby names ALL THE TIME; an act my husband wishes I would just forget about, LOL. He says we've been talking baby names since we got married, almost 3 years ago, haha! I can't help it, I just love them!!! So no, you're not weird:) P.S I love the name Bella too but sadly I named my first dog that so it's a "no-fly" zone;)

Liam is on our list of potential baby names for the future :) I had no idea that Garth grew up in Afria-that is so cool. How did I miss this?! What's the story there?

Ava is the name of my precious new niece! :)

I'm partial to the boy name Cohen since that's what I named my son, haha! I like unusual names that aren't too out there.

You are not weird! We talk about baby names all the time and even though I would love to be, we are not expecting right now...so here's hoping we aren't all weird! LOL! My niece is named Emma so of course I love that, and my friend has an Ella which is just adorable I think. My husband loves Lily. I'm with Garth, I like Abigail and the boys names I like on that list is Jackson and Logan. :) My husband and I can never agree on boys names..maybe thats a sign we will have a girl! :)

I find it funny that Mason is the #1 boy name only because when we named our son Mason in 2010, it wasn't popular at all!

The names me and the hubs have chose have not made the list and I don't forsee them either, though my nieces name is Emma. If my sister had a boy she was going to name him Jack too.

Wow! Didn't realize we picked SUCH a popular name. Our baby girl born earlier this year is #2 - Olivia. We try not to pick the popular names but fell in love with this name before looking at the "top names" (it was not that high when we picked it)

I didn't realize our baby girl's name-Olivia-was so popular either! I guess we all have good taste. I like Liam as well but our last name doesn't go well with Liam since it starts with an L. Too many L sounds. :)

Interesting...
I'm determined not to name my kid a name that's on the top 10 list! This coming from a Meghan who was one of 4 in my high school class...
It's really too bad that Twilight ruined Isabella, because it really is pretty.
