Rural Livin'.

I don't think I have mentioned that we moved to a much more rural setting than we are used to. The land of farms, 2 lane freeways, Walmart, and hunting stores on every corner. I. Love. It. I love the quietness, the friendly people, the laid back atmosphere, and Walmart (it is CHEAP!). I think most of all I love the lack of traffic.
Luckily we do not have a septic tank or well water because we are in a subdivision. The one thing I miss? Good take-out! We have yet to find a good Chinese or thai restaurant. There is not ONE Mediterranean or Indian restaurant. We only have one sushi joint but it is pricey and we do not have Panera, Chili's, Qudoba, Olive Garden, etc. I never knew how much I liked them until I didn't have them. Sure they are only a 20 minute drive on the freeway, but when they used to be a 5 minute drive it does take some getting used to.
Thus the reason Garth and I have been cooking. I guess this is good for us, our waistline, and our wallet. It is just taking some getting used to!

I am with you! We moved in December from being 3 minutes from Super Target to being surrounded by horses and farms! I love it, but i miss all those amenities so close!

That is a really good way to force yourself into cooking more. It sounds very peaceful where you live. I could get used to that!

I know what you mean!! I would be lost without my WM!! I lived in Ann Arbor in 1992 and moved to South Lyon later that year. I loved the quiet little town until I went into L==labor and had to hurry back to Ann Arbor!!! Enjoy your new adventure!!!

We live in Europe and don't have ANY of the things you mentioned here. I miss them so much, I haven't been back in almost 3 years. :(

I think that's so fun! Ohh, I wonder if in the summer you will have locals setting up little farmstands and you could by fresh produce from your 'neighbors'! That would be awesome :)

It does take some getting used to...My husband moved for work to a rural area and he nows gets why I do not want to move to the middle of no where....It is 30 minutes to walmart if that gets you going and there are only 3 restaruants less than 10 minutes away...they ALL close at 6pm.

It does take some getting used to that. I do love the peace and tranquility though!

Rural living = the best!! Even though I love having everything just a short drive away, there is something about piece and quite :)

Good for the budget though!!

I grew up with the closest grocery store 15 minutes away and the closest take out 30 minutes away. It was hard!!

Um....I would die without Panera and Target. Good for you though!!! We're trying to cook at home more too for $ reasons. It's hard but so rewarding in the end. :D

I know what you mean. The first time we moved we went from a big city to a tiny town- we didn't even have fast food! But I LOVED how peaceful and quiet it was! Now we are in Japan and like Megan said- we don't have any of what you mentioned. I really miss Target!

It sounds like you aren't quite as rural as we are. I have an hours drive to get to any of those places, but I do have a Walmart within 15 minutes!
