Dog Sitting.

This weekend Garth and I dog sat for the sweetest golden retreiver you have ever seen. Toby. The tobinator. Tobs. The tobster.

He is so well trained and he was an absolute treat to have around.

We took him walking around our subdivision and Garth and I kept saying, "we are dog people! we look like dog people!" We played with him in our yard and he slept next to our bed at night. He was such a blast to have around for the weekend.
With that beng said, we realized we are not ready for a dog yet. I am such a neat freak so the shedding and the drool drove me crazy. Even Garth got sick of all hair on everything. While we love Toby, we enjoyed going back to our dog-free lives.
But we sure will miss that little guy.

Yes, the shedding is awful!! I have a shih tzu who is the perfect dog, no shedding, drooling, easy to train, low energy...and the there is the terrier. Who is polar opposite! Drives me nuts!

I always dreamed of getting a Golden but my husband can't stand the shedding, so we compromised on a golden doodle: She has the look of a golden, and the no-shedding of a poodle. Barkley is the best dog ever!! :)

Poodles don't shed! (-: And are generally very clean drinkers and they don't drool. Drooling is gross! (-:

That's definitely why Bogey is an outdoor dog with visitation privileges only! Glad you had a fun time!

Toby has such a friendly face! Someone told us that Dobermans don't shed when we got our dogs and let me just say that it's a big fat LIE! I wouldn't trade them for the world but I clean All. THE. TIME. It's good that you guys tried out puppy parenting this weekend! :-)

I want to stick up for the terriers, I had a Westie growing up and he was the most well behaved dog in the world (no shedding, no drool). My hubby and I are now trying our luck with a Cairn Terrier puppy. If groomed right then there is no shedding, no drooling, and he is a freakishly smart dog! He has changed so much in a just a few months (and adapts great to new situations- ie moving, new people, new pets, etc)

I am in love with my fur baby!

You should get a non-shedding dog, like my Wheaton terrier! he's sooo wonderful! and not as big as a golden retreiver either, but not small like one of those dogs you can just kick.

wheaton terriers are perfect, imho : )

What a cutie! So I guess it was a good test run for being dog owners, huh?

We used to have Siberian Husky's. The best dogs ever...but they shed a lot, and we had a Lab/Hound/Boxer. Great dog-shed quite a bit. Now I have a Yorkie. Best Dog Ever. Hipoalergetic, no shedding, and such a family dog. My aunt and uncle recently got a Labordoodle. Poodle and Lab, and love it because theres not shedding, and still a big dog. :)
