Weekend Recap.

Even though this weekend felt like fall, it was a blast. Friday night we had dinner with my family and then we played cards with my brother and his fiance. We were reminiscing about elementary school and pogs. Do you remember pogs? It was one of those times where we were laughing so hard it hurt as we talked about "playing for keepsies" and describing our slammers. Maybe you had to be there. I think the funniest part was trying to explain what a pog was to Garth. Poor kid never heard of them. It sounds like such a lame game when you have to explain it, but it was so fun.
Saturday I had to work all day because I had to cater an event in the morning and run a meeting that afternoon. I am lucky I only have to work about 2 Saturdays a year, but I dread them! Waking up at 6a.m. on a Saturday should NOT be allowed. When I got home Garth had cleaned and done the laundry. Bless his heart. He is the best husband! I was so tired so we were lazy the rest of the day, watching TV and eating pizza rolls.
Sunday we went to church and the message was awesome and they sang my favorite worship song ("Marvelous Light"). We went to lunch with the fam and then we watched "Duplicity" with Julia Roberts and Clive Owen. Personally, I thought the movie was too complicated. I don't like to have to think THAT hard during a movie, but it was okay.
The rest of the evening was spent watching TV and grocery shopping for the week. I'm already counting down until the next weekend.

He he, I almost fell out of my chair laughing when I read about about the pogs! I remember those silly things, but I cannot remember the point of collecting them. I am pretty sure I just wanted to posses them. Thanks for the laugh!

yeppers...I remember them - I'm with you about working on Saturdays!! I have to work every 3rd Saturday...ehhhh - it's nice have a few days off during the week, but I like my Saturdays...and now the kiddos are in school, I feel like I miss out!

Girl, that is soooo funny you said that, because I didn't really care for Duplicity either. It required too many brain cells, you really shouldn't have to think that hard during a movie, haha!!

What a fun weekend!

I am SO happy you mentioned pogs! It's such a coincidence because my friends and I were literally just talking about them a few days ago. We were thinking what a dumb concept, yet we kids still went nuts over them!

I remember pogs! I didn't have many, but my favorite ones were some "Pinky and the Brain" Pogs. Remember that little sub show on Animaniacs? Maybe not, but I'm a dork that way...

OMG! My husband and I were playing trivia last night and one question had an answer choice of pog and he had no idea what it was so I was trying to explain to him that it was a game... too funny that you mentioned them!

I remember Pogs! My brother and I each had our own collection. The game is definitely lame sounding but it did provide much entertainment.
Garth missed all the fun!

I remember pogs! I'm pretty sure they were banned from my elementary school because they were becoming a distraction to students. Haha!

I had totally forgotten about pogs! It would definitely be hard to explain the concept to someone else. I'm so envious of your fall-like weather!

Sounds like the perfect weekend! Minus you having to work on Saturday, of course. Ahhh POGS, what a blast from the past! I can only imagine how difficult it would be to explain it to someone who has never heard of them. Too funny!

One time, in grade 6, I got sent to the prinicpal's office because of pogs. I was playing FOR KEEPSIES with the school bully and I beat him. I was so proud of myself, took all his pogs, then he started to cry and told the teacher he didn't really want to play for keeps. I was not ready to back down though, so I put up a fuss and got sent to the office and had to give them all back :( DON'T PEOPLE KNOW WHAT PLAYED FOR KEEPSIES MEANS?? Gosh.

We watched Duplicity too -- and although I liked it, I'm not sure I really got it? Even by the end?? It was a lot of work for a movie.... but I love Julia Roberts and hope she's back! And Clive Owen? I'll take him too :)

Sounds like you had a good weekend!

Oh my! I totally had forgotten about pogs! Ha! My brother and I had a pog maker where you could add pictures to them!

Newlywed Next Door said...

I SO had Pogs. We got in trouble with them at school b/c our Elementary School deemed them a form of "gambling". So we had to have a covert pog playing operation. All very scandalous for a bunch of 5th Graders. My slammer was AWESOME.
