Dinner Conversation.

Garth and I don't discuss politics or the meaning of life during our dinner conversations. Oh no, we discuss the really important issues in life. Like which actor played the best movie president. After much debate, Garth eventually agreed with me that Bill Pullman was the best movie president. I mean, come on! Have you not heard his speech in Independence Day?! Gives me chills every. time.
Last week our dinner debate was on who played the best villian. Garth argued John Travoltra, but I won with my argument for Kevin Bacon. He is just so mean in his movies I want to punch him in the face. If you have seen Sleepers you'll know what I'm talking about.
So, do you agree with our choices? Do you have conversations like this over dinner or are we weird?

Mmm I'm going to have to go with Michael Douglas from "The American President" and Christopher Walken scares the crap out of me!

I think Keiffer Sutherland played such a good bad guy in An Eye for An Eye that I'm convinced he's a bad guy in real life!

We have convos like this as well. I have to agree with him about John T as the villain.

I'm going to have to agree with d.a.r.... I think Michael Douglas in the American President.

And no worries, conversations don't always need to be serious, haha!!!

I love your topic of conversation. Greg and I are the same way!

We definitely have some silly dinner conversations a lot of the time just like that!

I haven't seen either of those movies (shame on me)!

No joke, Kevin Bacon haunts my dreams.

our conversations are hardly EVER about anything "deep" we spend a lot of time teasing each other or making fun of our friends and stuff. lol bad but yet oh-so-fun!

i think the scariest guy is like d.a.r said, christopher walken, he gives me the heebie jeebies (even in Sarah Plain and Tall!!!) I'm not sure who my favorite movie president is though...

For best villain Timothy Dalton winds hands down. He's got that love/hate thing down pat especially in Lion in Winter.

Okay, can I just say that I feel the exact same way about the Independence Day speech!?! I can pretty much recite it word for word and Matt thinks I am nuts.

I think it's so awesome that you guys talk this much over dinner. I think that's what's so special about sitting around the dinner table..to let go of everything and spend a few minutes bonding, laughing, getting to know each other..it's very important. You want to make sure and make it a tradition. You can even play 20 questions and ask ramdom stuff to add a twist. It's funny cause most men don't talk much lol.

I love the useless conversations!! i agree on Kevin Bacon..he is super creepy!

I've always said Kevin Bacon too! I've hated him ever since Sleepers because he did such a good job playing a villain.

I need to see more movies! While I have not seen it- I have heard that Heath Ledger was amazing as a villain in the dark knight. Thoughts?

we totally have conversations like this all the time! I think that is what makes realationships real, you don't need to have "deep" conversation all the time.

OH - and I am with d.a.r on this one, Christopher Walken toally scares the crap out of me too!

I think all are good choices!!!!!! I do like the speach in Independance Day!!!! As for the evil....there are so many choices!!!! (Kevin Bacon was also evil in Hollowman) He's got that creepy vibe going on that is for sure!!

Oooh Bill Pullman! Yes, definitely the best president!

I haven't seen Sleepers so I can't comment on that one but John Travolta is a good villian. Oh and Heath Ledger in the Dark Knight. Wow.

Hubster and I eat at the coffee table right now (long story). So our dinner conversations usually revolve around who gets to pick the tv show we're going to watch.

I agree with Garth...John Travolta is makes a great villan.

We do this too. Best movie president- I liked Michael Douglas in The American President. Best villain- Anthony Hopkins. So creepy!

How about the "Who is the best Batman" discussion? I still like Michael Keaton. :-)

Ashley @ {Let Go, Laughing} said...

I'd have to agree with other commenters that Michael Douglas in American President is the best movie president but I do agree with the Bill Pullman argument too. :)

Love your topics! So much better than "did you pay the electric bill?" or "Will you take my shirts to the dry cleaners if you are headed that way?"
The best villian for me is Cary Elwes in Kiss the Girls. Handsome and creepy.

It totally depends...sometimes we are "bad" and eat in front of the TV and talk about what's on TV (even when we're doing what you're "not supposed to" like watching TV instead of talking, we do talk about what we're watching - weird, I know)...when we're out to dinner, we tend to talk about more serious things. If we sit at the table at home, it totally depends...sometimes it's "how was your day" and sometimes it's "when do you want kids."

We're all over the place!

i have to go with michael douglas in 'the american president'. i could tell you his whole speech word for word, actually, i could recite the whole darn movie...

happy birthday by the way :)

hahaha, we always have convos like that! Oh I agree with Jen + Ryan..that guy is scary.

I also think Harrison Ford was a good president. I think the villian in that (Air Force One) movie did a REALLY good job too.

OH OH..and Joaquin Pheonix (cant spell his name). He played the best bad guy in Gladiator.

What is love if not an excuse to talk about nothing sometimes??? ;-)

I have to agree with Garth..John Travolta is soooo amazing and he plays the part so well! I {{{{{*LoVe*}}}}} John Travolta!

i can't stand Sherry on the show 24. She creeps me out. She could make the worst female villain in the world.

Adventures in Newlywed said...

We always end up talking about work - but I wish we had fun convos like ya'll do! I second your vote for Bill Pullman as best movie president...but I think that Gary Busey wins for best villian - because he's crazy in real life too!

I love, love your choices!

We have weird conversations all the time at dinner. I like to ask hypothetical questions...ridiculously hypothetical.

As far as villian, Christopher Walken scares me no matter what kind of character he plays!

The Boyfriend and I have crazy conversations that people would probably blog about if they overheard :)
