Wedding, a Funeral, and Baby Fever

Friday we went to a funeral for our friend's dad. We received a call that our friend's dad went to the doctor a few weeks ago because he thought he had the flu only to find out he had Stage 4 Prostate Cancer. He was given 4 months to live, but died 2 weeks later. It's not fair. Aren't we too young to be going to our friend's parent's funerals? I think so.

Friday night we had a movie marathon. Let me just say that I was not impressed with Slumdog Millionare. It was well made and the acting was phenomenal but it was not what I was expecting. It just wasn't my kind of movie. I had no idea what 7 Pounds was about either, but it was NOT what I was expecting either! I seriously hated this movie. Garth and I were so depressed after this movie and that is not how I like to feel after a movie. We also watched Marley and Me. Garth and I could totally relate to the main characters because they reminded us of our relationship. I thought the movie was cute and funny and even though I knew what was going to happen I cried. Too many dramatic movies for one night!

Saturday was perfection. The weather was sunny and warm so Garth and I went to the park for a good hike. Then I came home to find The 30 Day Shred in my mail box. I did the video while Garth studied. Oh my word! It was harder than I thought! I was so sore!!! Love the workout and I am so thankful it is only 20 minutes long! After that torture I showered and Garth made us chicken fajitas. We watched The Final Four game with my alma mater, Michigan State. YAYAYA! Go green! It was a stressful game but we won!!!

Sunday we went to church and then had lunch with my family. Then we went to a wedding open house. Our good friends were married in Mexico last month and had a celebration at their house. It was a lot of fun to meet their kids and their families. And their families all had lots of well-behaved children which gave Garth and I serious baby fever. Seriously, there were so many adorable kids that were so polite and sweet! And I couldn't get Garth away from the air hockey table and darts where he was beating all of those kids. Hilarious. I finally was able to get him away around 8 so I could watch my Country Music Awards. Loved it!!!

I went to on of my friend's Dad's funerals a couple of year ago (he died of Melanoma, scary!). So sad.

I definitely get Baby Fever sometimes, but then I try to remember that I should cherish theis "carefree" phase in married life -- because "you're gonna miss this" :-)

Wow - what a weekend. I'm sorry to hear about your friends father. We are too young to be going to parents funerals (in my opinion).

I'm glad you had some fun the rest of the weekend though!

What a busy weekend! The shred is something else I am on level 2 it make level 1 feel like a warm up but it works!

I am feeling your pain with the shred. I feel so strange today and I can't figure out if I'm getting sick or my body is in shock from two days of it! Sounds like you had a great weekend though. I'm anxious to see Slumdog Millionaire and not sure what to expect. I did see Marley and Me and sobbed on and off throughout the whole movie!

"7 Pounds" is very depressing!

Yeah, and way to go State! I'm pulling for them considering they beat UofL, my alma mater's biggest rival...they are on a roll!

I am also an MSU alum! Go Green! I have been doing the 30 day shred for 7 days now. It's not so bad anymore and I don't wake up sore. It gets better! :) Plus I'm really starting to see a difference. GL!

what a great weekend! don't you just hate it when a movie is such a let down like that? i've been bummed after watching those, and i've also HATED others. thank goodness for the classic, all-time favorites that never get old!

Wow! You had quite a weekend!

I can totally relate to funerals at this age. My dad passed away 12/31/08 at only 50 yrs old. It's tough, but it does make you realize that life is short and everyday is a blessing.

Me and my hubby have been watching a lot of movies lately and 2 of them weren't what I was expecting. It makes it harder to watch those types of movies I think!

Good luck w/the 30 day shred.. it's kicking my butt too :)

Sounds like a wonderful weekend. However, I am very sorry to hear about your Dad's friend. Let me know about 30 day shred! I am thinking about buying it.

I am still scared to watch Marley and Me I know I will ball my eyes out!

I have also heard that Slumdog was not "all that" --- I never seem to agree with those ocsar people!

I'm sorry you had a bummer of a movie night! My Hubs dragged me (okay, I went of my own free will) to see Fast and Furious on Sat. It was lame and they should have quit after the last one... heck, maybe after the first one! But we're car buffs, so we appreciated that aspect of it. I wish I had remembered that the CMAs were on last night, but hopefully I'll catch a repeat showing!

MRS. CJK said...

Also, I'm sorry about your friend's dad. I should have said that first and foremost, but I'm a dud sometimes.

i had the opposite of baby fever this weekend... ran into a family at the grocery store with the most UNBEHAVED kids i've ever seen! needless to say, my split personality on the baby subject became even more pronounced.

keep me updated on your shredding!!! i'm on day 6 now!

I want to try that video that you bought! :-)

I'm sorry about your friend's father. I felt the same way last year when I lost one of my best friends to cancer. It just feels like things really start flying at you once you are married.

I still want to see 7 Pounds even though I've heard it wasn't very good.

XOXO

I haven't seen the other two movies, but I have to say I thought Marley and Me was one of the most depressing movies I had ever seen!!!

Luke and I watched Seven Pounds this weekend too, but we liked it. I only saw the second half, though, because I slept through the first half. But it was very depressing. Marley and Me is so great, but I cried like a baby through most of it! lol

We rented Slumdog, 7 lbs, and Flash of Genius. Flash of Genius was good, but Slumdog wasn't what i was expecting. It was too evil and gruesome for me. We haven't watched 7 lbs. yet.

I get baby fever sometimes too but then i remember that we won't ever have this time again as just the two of us.

I've been wanting to see Slum Dog, I'm gonna rent it but not have my hopes high! :)

hey thanks for stopping by my blog earlier.. I'm new. Yes, I just watched Marley and Me and I too cried like a little baby. Haven't seen the other movies. Love your blog!! ~Sarah~

It sounds like a packed weekend. That's so sad about your friend's dad!

I wanted to see "Slumdog Millionaire" and "Seven Pounds" too but now I'm not sure about them. I'm too afraid to see "Marley and Me" since I cried so much when I read the book.

Mrs. S. said...

What a busy weekend! I did love Marley and Me, mostly because Marley is a lot like my big yellow dog.

Baby fever is so tricky. Usually people say to enjoy the time that we have because once there are children there is no time for "you" time. I don't know...it's tricky. All in good time.

Kim said...

Isn't the shred HARD? I totally thought it would be a cinch... not so much. I was SORE the next day.

I'm really sorry about your friend's dad. It's just not fair - my thoughts are with your friend.

Jules said...

I heard 7 pounds wasn't that good also. I loved Marley & Me and related that to my relationship too.

It was beautiful here on Sunday and sounds like your Saturday. I am ready for the warm weather to stay!

MrsC2b said...

We are all too young to attend funerals if you ask me. It's all about life and how we choose to live it..

As far as your movie night is concerned, both of those movies were brilliant! "Slumdog" was more about the unfair caste system still in place in India and one boy's undying love for a girl; "7 Pounds" dealt more with guilt and the inner struggle to right an unnecessary wrong.

Watch the last 15 minutes of each film again and remember that not all things are hunky-dory outside your window. Compassion is the key!

It sounds like you guys had a fantastic weekend. I am so glad the weather was nice for you and you could enjoy a little hiking! Don't you just love hiking?

I'm sorry to hear about your friends dad! Yes I totally feel like we are too young to have to go to a funeral like that!

How cute that you are having baby fever! I definitely get that way sometimes!
