Friday night we relaxed to a movie, played Scrabble and hung out at our place. The pastor that married us told us it was very important to just enjoy being married and to not get involved in too many things the first year. He couldn't stress enough how the first year needed to be a lot of time together to build a solid foundation. So we took that advice! I mean, besides my relationship with Christ, my relationship to Garth needs to be the most meaningful and deepest relationship in my life so I need to invest my time in him!
I digress...Saturday we went to my parents for some good ole fashion rivalry! Michigan State v. University of Michigan. We had lots of food and there was lots of cheering, especially when State won!!!

After the game we ate dinner. My mom made this amazing chicken marinara and my brother, Eric, made these awesome potatoes. Then we played "Apples to Apples" and some card games which made for a pretty amazing Saturday!
Sunday were went to church and then out to lunch with the fam. Then Garth and I wanted to relax before a busy week! We went home and went for a walk, played cards, grocery shopped, made pizza and watched football. It was so relaxing and fun. What a great weekend...to be a Spartans fan!;)

That sounds like such a nice weekend - it is definitely good to have time for each other when you first get married. I think my hubby and I were so busy with school that we put each other second a lot to school and trust me - no good can come from that!!!
Sounds like a fun weekend!!!
Hubby and I need to start doing date nights... We talked about it but have never comitted to doing it on a regular basis.
I am glad you had a great weekend! And I agree that you do have to invest time in each other :) don't get involved in too much-great advice!
Yay, for a great weekend! I have never tried hummus but I really want to!
We LOVE Apples to Apples!
What a great weekend! I love Mediterranean food so that would make my weekend right there.
Sounds like a lovely weekend! I haven't had a weekend to just relax in almost a month!
Lindsey, this sounds like a GREAT weekend!!! Your pastor is OH SO RIGHT! Take this special time to "cocoon", you will be very thankful later. :)
Sounds like my kind of weekend! So fun. Glad you had a lot of time to enjoy one another!
What a busy, yet relaxing weekend! I love spending time just with my hubby and family.
You're a smart girl! And, I second your sentiments, our relationships with the Lord are the only thing that should take precedence over my relationship with my husband. Someone once said to me, "Don't allow any intruders into your marriage (job, hobbies, other relationships, etc)." I just keep on thinking about that.
The food sounds fantastic!
And I agree, it's very good to build a strong "foundation." So very important!
I wish we could do more date nights, but hubs gigs most weekends, so it's not always possible.
Sounds like a fun weekend!
I love laid back weekends with the hubby. My Mondays always feel way less stressful when I have weekends like this.
Oh and we LOVE apples to apples!
Seriously, you two are amazing at the respect you give your marriage. Love it.
Additionally, that hummus sounds fantastic . . . why did I eat all of mine?!
Thank you for the sweet blog comments!
I like the advice your pastor gave about the first year of marriage!
What a great weekend! What great advice from you pastor...cause after the end of the day it's you and him...and God of course :)
