Too Much Take-Out

Garth and I are pretty good about spending money. We rarely spend money on clothes, movies, or fancy restaurants. Our downfall is take-out. When we got home from our honeymoon we were a little crazy and ordered take-out every night! But then we sat down and calculated how much we were spending on take-out and realized it had to stop. So we made a rule to only eat out once a week. We were doing so well, even sharing a meal!

Well, I'm not sure if it's because Garth and I have been sick these last two weeks or what, but we have been eating too much take-out! We ate out twice last week, and twice this week...and it's only Tuesday!!!! This is getting out of control. We had a family meeting and decided we are going to ban ourselves from eating out for the rest of this week and next week! Garth already has started a menu for the rest of the week! I'm happy with this because I miss Garth's cooking! Tonight Garth is making meatballs, woohoo! He makes the best meatballs!

Can Garth send ME a meatball? :) Husby and I are bad at eating out, too. Sometimes, it just seems easier since there are only two of us. Ya know!? It is a bad habit thought because it's probably more expensive in the long run and definintely not healthy.

We are the same way! I try to cook mostly at home but it is so fun to either eat out (not a crazy expensive restaurant like you said) or order in, which we actually haven't done in a little while. A family meeting, cute! Good luck!!

Eating out is our biggest problem! We both really love to go out for dinner...but it's not good for my waistline or our wallets! :)

Making a menu actually works really well for us. We do grocery shopping after we make menus so we only buy the things we really need. Good luck!

It is so hard, especially after working all day. The last thing I feel like doing is cooking dinner (sometimes I want to but other times I don't). We try and limit ourselves too and we do pretty good but every now and then, we still order out.

I have trouble cooking on Friday night and on the weekends so thats when we usually end up ordering out!

Thanks for the comment on my blog! I have to say my husband and I definitely indulge in going out to dinner. We eat all meals at home all week, but then go out either Friday or Sat. night. It's nice to sit down without all our animals and have a conversation across a real table!

I feel your pain! With Sean's crazy schedule sometimes it's just easier to get take-out rather than try to keep something warm. My co-workers eat out about everday and it's really hard not to join in!

Meatballs sound really tasty though!

I love the new header, it is so adorable! Jim and I are pretty bad about eating out too. I try to make menus before hand but honestly sometimes I am just too tired to care!

I remember those days in our first few months of marriage of eating out all the time. It was hard to cook just for two, and my arsenal of recipes was few. One day though we just decided we had to do something about it so we would make up a menu a week at a time. Then we would take leftovers from dinner for lunch the next day. We still do that and it works out very nicely. The last couple of summers we started grilling out for the whole week and then just make different sides each night. That was so nice to not have to cook as much, and the kitchen didn't get as hot in the Texas heat! Okay - can we all say that I talk (or type) too much?!

isnt it funny how fast eating out drains your bank account? 20 bucks here, 30 bucks there...and then all of the sudden your just shocked!

i feel your pain. We started cooking together and playing a nice romantic CD, and now? Now we would rather stay in and cook/eat together.

Take Out is expensive. One time I added up every takeout receipt for a month and it was outrageous how much I spent.. ugh.

We eat a LOT of take out food too. Ben is especially bad about ordering pizza. Seeing how as I'm the only one of the two of us that cooks, anytime I don't feel like cooking- Papa Johns is dispatched by the sig other. And to make matters worse tonight our 50 year old stove bit the dust so the take out will abound! Good luck on the cut back though!

I think that all young married couples must eat out a LOT! Restaurants are so convenient. Even though, I LOVE to cook. It can really pack the pounds on ya, though, not to mention the cost!

We are in the same boat - we have have dramatically cut back our eating out/take out habits. It was getting ridiculous. I have to admit tho - I do miss it.

Our downfall was going out with one of our couple friends! It was getting ridiculous! SO we decided that we will be hosting each other of dinner at our homes to cut down! And it's a blast, you don't have to put on shoes!

Oh and I love the new look for the blog!
