April Goal Review

I set goals for the year and check in each month to see how I did. Lets see how April went! Spoiler: Not well. And I'm warning you now I talk a lot about selling and house hunting because that is consuming my life right now.

1. Follow Weight Watchers. This did not go well. Between all the showings and house hunting we ate a lot of meals out and getting out of routine is never setting me up for success. But we started a health challenge at work and I'm all in. I have to be, I'm a team captain, ha! I'm also finally reading my books on intuitive eating and binge eating so I think I'm setting myself up for success now.

2. Be intentional with the relationships in my life. I hosted a dear friend over for an impromptu wine date, went to dinner with a few good girlfriends, and went to a murder mystery party with fun friends. I'm also being extra intentional with G as we go through this stressful time of selling our house (IT SOLD. AH!) and trying to find a new house. It ended up being the perfect time to do The Husband Project. It helped me ask him more questions and get him talking more instead of dominating the conversation. In doing so I found I complain less and in turn was so much happier.

3. Read three books a month. I read 1.5 books this month. Did I mention we are selling our house and looking for a new home? It's a real time sucker. Especially when your house sold and you spend every free moment looking at houses. Bu I digress. I read Uninvited by Lysa Terkeurst and it was just what I needed. It spoke to my soul. Here are a few of my favorite quotes:

"The mind feasts on what it focuses on. What consumes my thinking will be the making or the breaking of my identity."

"I have to keep my mind focused on what the Holy Spirit whispers, not what my flesh screams."

We are not necessarily doubting that God will do the best for us; we are wondering how painful the best will turn out to be." - C.S. Lewis -

4. Move fifteen minutes everyday. The weather has been absolutely beautiful so Manny and I have enjoyed lots and lots of walks. It was also our go to when we had a showing to head to the lake and walk Manny so I definitely moved fifteen minutes a day.

5. Do one thing that inspires you everyday. Honestly, I've struggled with this. I hate this feeling of limbo we are in right now. We had to walk away from three houses and two devastated me and one devastated G. You get emotionally attached to a house and it's hard to come to terms with not getting it. Add in selling our house, passing inspection and moving on to closing without a house in mind is SCARY. Every day I'm just praying and trusting that God has a plan. I need to get better at continuing my routine in the midst of madness and plan to next month.

6. Find a new church community. We reverted back to church online because it turns out our church service is right in the middle of prime open house showings. I know it's a season and I'm really ready for things to settle down. But I'm also trying to give myself grace in this weird season of life.

7. Read the Bible and write in my prayer journal everyday. Check! I have to or I would go insane. The control freak in me cannot handle not knowing where we will live in a few months, but I know God is good. He has a plan and I'm letting Him guide me and learning to trust Him more and more every day.

8. Do one house project a month. HA! The house has never looked better. All the repairs are done. The touch ups are done. Every inch of the house has been purged and deep cleaned. Between showings, inspection and the appraiser I have cleaned my house pretty much every single day for a month. It's exhausting and also kind of nice all at the same time.

What did you accomplish this month?
