The Best Cake You'll Ever Eat.

I don't know how to bake many things, but there is one cake I know how to bake. I baked it for Garth's birthday when we were dating and I think that may have confirmed he wanted to marry me. Just a guess.
The cake is called Better Than Sex Cake and it's super easy. These are all the ingredients necessary:
There are many variations to this cake but our favorite is mixing fudge, caramel and chocolate chips into the cake batter:The finished product is pure bliss:TA DA!
I have my moments of being domestic and this was one of them. Success!

Independent Woman.

I have been going to the same oil change place since I got my license. They do a good job, they're friendly, efficient, and cheap. Now that I'm married, Garth usually takes my car in for oil changes but I had some extra time and I knew I was due for one. So I was an independent woman and on a mission. I was also a bit lazy because I went to a new place that was on the way to work. The place was not crowded and my car was finished in 10 minutes flat. I was so proud of myself...until he said the price. $40 for a stinkin' oil change! I almost had a heart attack - I usually only pay $19 AND I get a tire rotation.
I called Garth and he was pretty mad. This is how the conversation went down:
Garth: "Why didn't you ask the price before you had your oil changed?"
Me: "I just assumed it would be $19 like the place I always go."
Garth: "I can't believe you didn't ask before you had it done."
Me: "I'm sorry. I guess we will keep you in charge of oil changes."

The next day we were driving and saw a sign for an oil change for $14.95. Wife FAIL.

Luxury.

You just don't even know what a luxury it is to have a dishwasher, washer, and dryer after not having one for 1.5 years. You just don't know. Garth and I made veggie lasagna last night and the clean up was not even 5 minutes. Oh, and the dryer buzzed just as we finished loading the dishwasher and Garth and I took it out and folded it. You just don't know what a luxury that is, and I cannot believe we ever went without it.

Brownie Points

I think I totally deserve brownie points for being a stellar wife today. I woke up early and did laundry, put the laundry away, did the dishes, cleaned the kitchen and bathroom, scrubbed the floors, dusted, and made yummy turkey burgers for Garth's lunch! AND since he will get home before me I wrote him a love note and put it next to a fresh batch of brownies I whipped up. Brownie points for me. No pun intended. Ok it was intended.

The Sewing Story

Garth recently lost a button from a pair of his work pants. He politely asked if I could sew it back on. I informed him I did not know how to sew. Surprise filled his face and he uttered, "What?! But you're the wife! You are supposed to know how to do this!" I apologized and offered to take his pants to my mom's because she could sew. Well, Garth was not happy with this response so he went to Meijer and bought a beginner sewing kit.

I kid you not, I came home to Garth sitting at the kitchen table concentrating hard on sewing his button on. I started to laugh and Garth just replied, "This is really easy. Let me teach you."

Yesterday I came home from work and told Garth I had ripped my sweater. He looked at the rip with a very serious look on his face and uttered "I think I could fix this for you." I burst into a laughing fit. Once Garth realized that he sounded like an 80 year old women he burst out laughing too.
