I was able to run again this week! I wasn't able to run the last few weeks because my old tennis shoes were causing major blisters since they are over two years old and falling apart. I do walk about 19 miles a week so it was definitely time for some new kicks. My grandpa always says you spend half your life on your feet and on your back so invest in good shoes and a good mattress. Wise words!

So I finally took his advice and headed to Kohls Monday night. These cute shoes were the last in my size. They were $99 on sale to $75 and I had a 30% coupon and a gift card (thanks mom and dad!!) so I paid $9 for these! I love them! Shoes really do make all the difference and it feels so great to run again!

Thoughts this week:

I realized this week I was making weight loss an idol. I love this quote from Tim Keller because it keeps me in check. If I'm being honest I was making weight loss the ultimate thing so I took a break from the scale this week. I focused on eating well. I focused on exercising. I focused on how I felt. Most importantly, I focused on making God my number one priority and spending time in the Word. And putting weight loss back it's place so it's a good thing. Not the ultimate thing. Not the end all be all. Not the determinate of my worth. I feel better and am ready to weigh in this weekend. Now that I have my priorities in check.

Eats this week:

Breakfasts have been 2 eggs in a mug with a slice of cheese on French Bread. YUM. I'm all about the savory breakfast.

Lunch has been a protein shake with 1 scoop protein powder, a banana, a cup almond milk, 2 cups ice and 2 cups spinach. So good and creamy and delicious. And filling!

Or a sandwich with a side of mango.

Snacks have been cottage cheese and a smoothie with pineapple, strawberries, chia seeds and 50 calorie blueberry V8. Smoothies really are the easiest way for me to get in my greens.

Or a TJ Blueberry Bran muffin.

Monday night we thought it would be fun to celebrate our good reviews from last week and use up a gift card at Outback. Lets just say the wine was the best part of the meal. The garlic shrimp was greasy and left me feeling gross after. I'm still on a streak of bad meal choices at restaurants and it is frustrating.

Tuesday night I had a burrito bowl because I was really craving it and hadn't had one in a long time. So good!

Wednesday and Thursday night we had beef stroganoff. G always dishes up way too much so I did not eat all of that which gave us leftovers for lunches.

I was going to get those exact shoes with that 30% off - do you like them? I'm still thinking about ordering them.

I like your grandpa's saying! I had heard about the 1/3 of your life in bed so get a good mattress and sheets, but (duh!) the on your feet part makes so much sense too :) I had heard replace your shoes every 500 miles, and the way you walk/run that's probably closer to every 6 months! It's hard when they still look good, but the sole wears out on the inside I guess. Anyway, so proud of your for all your hard work, and then still having the wisdom to let all that take a backseat to God! :)
