This weekend was a good one. Friday night I went to a girls night with fun friends. We ate good food. Drank wine. Laughed a lot. It was the perfect end to the week. Saturday I slept in until ten which is so unlike me. I cleaned the house, did laundry, cooked and then enjoyed a lazy afternoon catching up on shows and starting a new book.
Sunday was the Detroit Marathon and my mom was running in it. It was a perfect day for it. A bit cool in the morning (27 degrees, brr!) but by 9:00 a.m. it was in the 50s and the sun was shining.
It was so neat seeing so many people out running... on a freeway. So cool. I love cheering strangers on. It is so much fun!
I was with my brother Eric, G and my dad. I like to give myself credit for getting them to start cheering people on. I was the only one cheering the first half hour or so. I'm sure that got annoying so I had to make them join in.
This isn't a great picture, but my mom is running towards us. We cheered super loud for her. It was so funny because my dad was trying to take a picture of her and she was trying to take a picture of us. Ha! It is becoming quite the family tradition to do marathons. G did the Chicago Marathon in 2012. Eric did the Detroit Marathon in 2013. And my mom did the half this year. So proud of my family!!
After seeing my mom at the 8 mile mark we had some time to kill before heading to the 12 mile marker to cheer them on again. We walked over to Hart Plaza and walked along the boardwalk.
Oh, hey Canada!
I didn't even mean to be artistic, but this picture came out really cool. Love Detroit!
Not to get all ranty, but I hate how Detroit has such a bad rap. It really is such an awesome city. So eclectic. So Pretty. Good food. Good people. I digress, back to the marathon!
My mom and Elaine after the race! They did awesome! I was so proud. My mom ran for World Vision and raised money for the organization and now 27 people will have clean water for life. How amazing is that?! #Prouddaughter.
It was a fun day in the city! I'm glad we got to support my mom and hang out with family. And we just could not have asked for better weather. It was rainy and freezing the day before so we really lucked out!
After the race we went back to my parents house to celebrate. We ate pizza (LOVE the Little Cesar's Pretzel Pizza!!) and hung out.
Jess and Ella met us back at the house so it was fun to get some sweet time in with them. We grabbed our favorite thai food and got home around 3:00. I'm telling ya, cheering is exhausting because I came home and crashed for about 2.5 hours.
I woke up around 5:30 and ate Tofu Pad Thai with G. We watched a bit of Dexter and then I read. I'm reading The Hypnostist's Love Story by Liane Moriarty because I was obsessed with her other two books and this one does NOT disappoint.
It was a pretty great weekend! The perfect balance of productive, relaxing and fun. But the thing about weekends is they just go too fast!

Random but I have never had Little Cesar's pizza because we don't have any around here but we always see commercials for it. Lol.
