Life Lately

G and I took Friday off and had a nice three day weekend. We slept in on Friday and G mowed the lawn and I cleaned the house and caught up on the laundry. It was a nice productive morning after being gone last weekend and busy every night of the week.

My birthday is coming up so I have tons of birthday coupons. We had lunch at Bennigan's to take advantage of a free meal and then headed over to my brother and SIL's house. It was nice to catch up with them and hang out with Ella.

Ella is just not sure what she thinks of her Uncle G's beard. They were so stinkin' cute together.

Hi Hitch. He is so sweet. He reminds me a lot of Manny in his mannerisms and personality. No wonder they get along so well.

My parents came over around five with dinner from this amazing restaurant. Oh my gosh, so good! Next time I'm getting the goat cheese veggie sandwich Jess got because it was amazing. My parents babysat Ella and the four of us went to The Detroit Zoo for a wine tasting event after dinner.

It was so much fun! It was a sold out event, so thanks Jess for getting the tickets early! The weather was pretty perfect. Overcast and a bit hot, but it sprinkled a bit which cooled everyone off. And I think made the animals active.

We had ten tasting tickets and a complimentary drink when we walked into the zoo. We stopped at the Italy Bubbles Table first and the wine was so good. Actually, all the wine was delicious except the sangria. Should have know, but it was way too sweet. I stuck to all whites, specifically sauvignon blanc, and they were all excellent.

Jess and I. We had such a blast walking around the zoo, catching up, listening to live music and watching the animals. Oh my goodness, they were so active!

I mean, look at this ape. He was posing for a picture so I had to take one!

Our signature pose!

A nice zoo worker came over and took a picture for us in front of the llamas.

Break for more wine!

Back to watching animals. We saw a joey learning to hop with his mamma. We saw the cutest tree kangaroo sleeping. Foxes playing endlessly and tackling each other. A polar bear out for a little stroll. Peacocks roaming the zoo.

The sea lions were swimming around us. The otters were wrestling. The lions were roaring at each other and the lady lion almost pounced on the male. But he got the heck out of dodge. It was so much fun! It was nice to see them all playing instead of just laying around like they usually are during the day.

After about two hours of wine tasting and walking around the zoo, we ended our night with a tasting at the South Africa tent. Excellent wine!

The cover band was really good so we listened to them for a bit before calling it a night. Such a fun night. I can't wait to do it again next year!

Saturday marked 8 years since G and I went on our first date and 7 years since he asked me to marry him. It is crazy how fast time flies when you're in love! We rented Nonstop and I actually thought it was a fun action movie.

The rest of the weekend was pretty low key. We caught up on our shows. Walked and played with Manny. Sat on the deck and read. G worked on this coffee table he is building which I can't to show you! It was so nice and long and felt like a long time since we had been at work. Love those weekends!
