June Goals Revisited

Seriously, how is it July already? Summer, slow down!!

Before I start with my goals for July, lets take a look back at June and see how I did.

1. Do a morning devotional every morning. Check! My girlfriend and I just finished Calm My Anxious Heart by Linda Dillow. It was a really good read and really convicting. I highly recommend it!

2. Read three books a month. Check! I read Where We Belong by Emily Giffin, Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn, and Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? by Mindy Kaling. I loved
Where We Belong. I was hooked from the first page of the book and invested in the characters like I always get with Giffin's books. I didn't love the ending, but it was still a great read. Same for Gone Girl. I was sucked in from the very first page and could not put it down. Could not stop thinking about it. Invested in the characters. Part 2 got a bit too crazy for me and I didn't love the ending. Still a good read though. Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? was such a fun read. Mindy had me laughing out loud. A perfect summer read!

3. Take one day trip a month. We failed on this one. We had two day trips planned this month and they both fell through. We did spend a few days at our local beach so I'll call that a good trade.

4. Host a couple once a week. Check! We have done this every week this month and it has been a lot of fun. I left dishes in the sink and used paper plates and put away leftovers when everyone left so I could truly soak up the time with people. There were lots of laughs. Long talks on the deck. Breaking bread together. Getting real and having authentic conversations about our hopes and dreams. It was great!

5. Walk Manny every morning. Check! Manny is like me in that he is a creature of habit. He has come to expect the morning walk and he loves it. I love it too. There was only one morning we couldn't go because it was storming.

6. Cook one new recipe a week. Check! I need to branch out a bit more because I have been making our old standby recipes, but it's still a win. I even made two recipes last week! Victory is mine!!

7. One date night a week with G. Check! Friday nights has become our date night. Sometimes it's just the two of us. Sometimes it's a double date and sometimes it's a big group of us. But it's always a good time. We have checked out new restaurants. Explored new towns. Visited a friend's house to see the bonfire pit they built and test it out. Had a beer and watched the World Cup. Good times.

How was your June? Get ready for my July goals tomorrow!

Sounds like a great month! I really need to be better about having friends over. We are all so busy, but everyone has to eat sometime. I need to not be so worried about what I'm going to serve and just enjoy the time together with good friends.
