Ten for Tuesday

1. This weekend was a fun one. G and I have free passes to this super fancy gym for the week. Friday night we swam for about 30 minutes and then grabbed a protein shake from the cafe.

2. On the way home from the gym we stopped at this meat and cheese shop we have always wanted to check out. We bought some cheddar and Gouda, beef, and salami. We came home and had a little cheese, crackers, and fresh salami. Yum!

3. Saturday morning we went back to the gym. This time we met friends there and did a mini triathlon to see if we could do it. We ran 3 miles, biked 5 miles (though we could bike 10, the seat just hurt too much!), and then swam a quarter mile. It was really fun! We worked up quite the appetite so we headed to Hop Cat afterwards for lunch. I definitely earned this turkey burger with pesto aioli with a side of crack fries. It hit the spot!

4. Sunday was relaxing. We were so sore! We did church online, laid around, and caught up on our shows. I did laundry since we have plans every day this week and I cleaned the house. I started watching Dancing with the Stars because I love Candice Cameron. But I'm kinda loving all of the contestants this season!

5. It was time to put away the winter decor and get out the spring decor. I even tried out a fun new spring scent even if it was 9 degrees last night and there is snow in the forecast for today.

6. We rented American Hustle because I have wanted to see if FOREVER. It was a good movie. The acting was great. I guess I just had too high of hopes for it. It was worth seeing though. Also? I just could NOT get over Christian Bale in this movie. I had just watched Newsies days before. By the way, I forgot how much I loved that movie. But the entire time we watched American Hustle, I kept asking Garth: "Are you SURE that's Christian Bale?" I'm sure that got annoying.

7. Sunday night Garth made Cottage Pie. It is loosely based on this recipe. He subbed chicken broth for the beef broth and he tried to make it from memory the way his mom used to make it. The result? It was delicious. So flavorful and rich. It was a great treat and the perfect way to end a great weekend.

8. I weighed in again this weekend and I'm still maintaining. It's okay though. It just means I need to work harder. Instead of being sad about it I did a sprint tri just to prove I could. That made me feel better. I'm more than a number. I am strong! I kept my portions in check this weekend, worked out hard, and I have a healthy week planned and I know I'll see a loss this week.

9. We got our grill out of hibernation and I'm excited to grill veggies and lean meats this week. It will be 48 degrees by Thursday. Praise the Lord! I'm so excited. We checked out this cool organic store, similar to Trader Joe's, but more expensive. It was fun and we bought chicken brats and tofu burgers. I'm excited to grill them!

10. I think I'm a One Direction fan. I just learned "The Story of Us" is by One Direction. This is the second song of theirs I'm obsessed with. In other unrelated news, I cannot believe we are on the last few episodes of How I Met Your Mother. This show is just so funny. And while I wasn't impressed with how they introduced the mother (so much build up and then it just felt so lackluster, just me?) I absolutely love the mother. Perfect fit. I wish she was introduced earlier because she just makes the show even better! Cuter! Funnier!

There are SO many good ones on DWTS this year!! Love Candace though - she's in my top 3 with Charlie & Meryl

Online church - that's how to do it on lazy days!

Mmm that burger looks so good! Great job on the tri, isn't it good to see what you can do?! Your relaxing day sounds so nice, can't wait till I'm out of school and can have more time to do anything besides have to study! I loved Candice Cameron, she's a Christian and I'd read some stuff about her planning on wearing only modest costumes, what a great role model! Enjoy :)

OHMYGOODNESS! Newsies is an all-time favorite for me. Totally. And it was suuuuuper weird seeing CB in American Hustle. I didn't love the movie, but it was pretty good.

As far as HIMYM: I could NOT agree more! I was SOOO let down with how they revealed and introduced the mother. Also? I seriously think I'm going to mourn the loss of this show, as if I'm one of the friends. We have watched it from the beginning and have ALWAYS been big fans. Seriously... It's like I'll be losing actual friends!

PS: what are your thoughts on why Ted was crying in the flash forward a couple weeks back? Some rumors are that the mom is terminal. Or something, which is why he started telling the kids how he met her... I don't know if I can accept that as a possibility, but I wish they'd just tell us already! This SHOW!!!
