Christmas Decor

And just like that Thanksgiving is over. All of the planning, preparation, and scouring magazines for the perfect turkey recipes is over. I can't believe it's over. It was the best day and I'm beginning to love Thanksgiving more and more each year. It's less commercial, less chaotic, and there is less pressure than Christmas. But time moves forward. Life goes on. It is time to look forward to the next holiday and reflect on the reason for the season.

I may have slept better than I ever had in my whole life Thursday night. I fell asleep about ten and woke up at ten the next morning. Garth and I drank our coffee, reflected on the day before, enjoyed leftover cheese and sausage balls for breakfast (which were a HUGE hit, you must make them!) and hauled the Christmas decorations from the basement.

We went up the garland around the fireplace first:

Then we got to work on the tree. I love decorating our tree because it is always a trip down memory lane pulling out all the ornaments from family. We counted down to turn the lights on after all the decorating was complete. We are dorks, I know. It was a fail, at first:

Only the bottom half of lights came on. Luckily, it ended up just being the top half was not plugged in to the bottom half. Oops! Easy fix and now it was complete. Add the star:

Don't forget the new tree skirt we finally purchased this year that I'm kind of obsessed with:

TA-DA!

I love decorating our tree as well! We dont' really have a theme, just a bunch of random ornaments that we have collected as we travel or that we have from when we were kids! Now we'll start having lots of Elyse-themed ornaments I'm sure!

Beautiful! Does the gold/brass strip of metal on your fireplace ever bug you? Ours has the exact same thing and I've considered trying to spray paint it but don't want to ruin it!
