Chicago Marathon: Day 3

We all slept in on Monday morning. It was probably the best sleep of Garth’s life. I cannot imagine how tired he was. He was sore, but it was manageable. We got up, showered, packed up, grabbed Starbucks in the lobby, checked out and walked down the street to The Corner Bakery.

Angie and I got breakfast. I had a croissant egg sandwich and it was cold, but delicious and I was filled up until dinnertime. The bakery was cute with a fun atmosphere and bustling with people. Garth and Geoff got “The Big Al” which was a massive bowl of chili. They were going to get breakfast, but they had asked what the best thing on the menu was and this is what was recommended. They LOVED it. And yes, they did that entire bowl of chili.

We left Chicago after our breakfast/lunch which was around 11:30. We only had to make one stop for gas on the way home and then we dropped Angie and Geoff off at 4:15. We were getting hungry for dinner so we grabbed Jets Pizza and came home to relax. It was an amazing weekend. One I will never, ever, ever forget.

Words cannot even describe how proud I am of Garth. He did awesome and I had the best time cheering him this weekend. And the last nine months of training. It was an incredible bonding experience for Garth and I and my family. I’m so glad they were able to come. Their support meant the world to us. All of your comments of encouragement. Your generosity. The texts you sent this past weekend. All of it. Garth and I are extremely grateful for all of you. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

The end.
