Garage Sale Finds

It is garage sale season and I’m in love. Last weekend was our subdivision garage sale and I didn’t get my hopes up. Last year Garth and I were so excited to check them out, but were disappointed to find everything was baby related and any furniture we did find was sold. So this year I didn’t have my hopes up and did not even bring money. Garth didn’t even go.

I went with a friend and the very first garage sale they had a hammock. I immediately called Garth and he walked over to check it out. It was a great deal and in great shape so we purchased it, took it apart and carried the pieces home, and assembled it again on our porch below our deck.

Our life has been pretty crazy lately, but I was able to lay in the hammock for the first time this past Sunday afternoon. It was heavenly. The sun was hot, the beer was cold, and the magazine was interesting. Perfection.

This past weekend there was a subdivision garage sale down the road from our house. A couple friends and I checked it out and I could have stayed there all day. I was having such great luck, but I had plans. The two hours I did spend at the garage sales I bought a candle for fifty cents and two sweaters for $1.50 each.
My favorite purchase was canisters for sugar, coffee, and tea. The ones I had were silver, small and the sugar canister had completely cracked down the back and sugar was starting to leak out. As soon as I saw these beautiful, Tuscan style ones I knew I had to have them. They were priced at $25 for the set of five but the cookie canister was broken and the top was missing. I’m not good at negotiating, but my friend was able to get her down to $12 for the four (the flour one is in storage right now because it is really big for my counter space and I don’t even have flour, ha!).

I love the way it looks. Even Garth loves it. He said, and I quote, “I don’t give you enough credit on this, but you have really good taste.”

Now I think I'm addicted to garage saling. There are garage sales in a subdivision close by and I'm pretty sure I will be going because I am on the hunt for a patio set...

cute canisters! I'm definitely not a "garage-saler" but everyone also finds such great things!
