Shut the front door!

Lately I have had the itch to paint our front door. I heard an interior designer once say the best way to give your house great curb appeal is to pain the front door a bold color like red, purple or blue. This is what birthed the idea to paint the front door. It wasn’t even on my radar before. Now I just can’t stand how plain our door color actually is. Exhibit A:

Wow. I can’t believe the last picture of our house was taken the day we move in. FAIL. I will definitely take some after we finish overhauling the landscape. Anyways, each night while Garth and I walk I analyze every. Single. House. I went to never noticing the neighbors front door colors to obsessing, judging, and evaluating  each and every one.

The majority of doors in our subdivision are maroon. As much as I would love a bright, candy apple red it would just clash with our siding and shutters. But it may work someday if we ever get around to painting our shutters. Ideally, I would love to pain them black. But nothing is wrong with them and it just seems like a lot of work. I digress. Our neighbor has a purple door and I saw a few blue and hunter green doors, but nothing that really struck my fancy.

THEN one fateful day I was browsing Pinterest  and, lo and behold, I found the color. I love love love it. Maybe even more than macaroni and cheese. But maybe that’s because it is the color of macaroni and cheese? Here it is in all its glory:

Are you in love with it too? Do you have a crazy fun front door color at your house? Can you believe I just spent THIS much time talking about front door colors? Now I just need to convince Garth this is the color for us. It would mean less work because we wouldn't need black shutters anymore… Yes, I think I’ll start there.

I recently painted our front door and love it! No one else on our block has a red front door so I painted it red and painted our shutters black and I swear it looks like a new house! I love the orange! It's different and would definitely stand out!
