Wedding Wednesday

I was watching this video on marriage from Kensington Church and something they said really stuck out to me: Look good for your spouse. Now I always thought this meant shaving on a (semi) regular basis and "not letting myself go."

But Dave talks about how his mother-in-law never wears make-up for her husband anymore and he thought that was sad. I wear make-up everyday, but I hardly ever do my hair. Garth has even mentioned he wishes I would straighten my hair.

In the spirit of wanting to look good for my husband I started straightening my hair on the weekends. Now I have even managed to start straigthening it before work each day. Who am I?! I don't know why I made such a big deal about it, it's really not that difficult and it doesn't take that much time. And I know Garth appreciates it and is proud to show me off.

I know this may sound silly, but I think it is so easy to get into a rut of thinking "he's stuck with me so I can do whatever I want." But I think we should always have the urge to look good for our husbands. And I think our spouses should have the urge to look good for us. It is not one-sided, my friends!

I know Garth is training for a marathon because he wants to provide clean water in Africa. But I also know he is doing this marathon to get in good shape for himself and for me.

What do you think? Do you think you should look good for your spouse?

Absolutely!!! We've been married over 31 year and still want to look good for each other. Men are very visual so it is very important that wives keep looking their best for them!

Besides working out for myself, and the benefits I will get; I want to look good for my husband as well. I do not want to give him any reason to look elsewhere. I want him to "see" me and think "Man, I am so lucky"....after 23+ years of marriage.

I totally agree! I started doing little things here and there too and it makes a difference. The one that got me was that I have all these cute lingerie and pj's, but I got into the routine of wearing an oversized t shirt with sweats to bed. Now, I am using all the cute pj's and I feel better and great going to bed. I am pretty sure he enjoys it too. Lol.

I definitely think it's important to look nice for your spouse. I'm definitely tempted to stay in pj's and not shower on the days I'm home with Elyse, but I always at least shower and put makeup on. My hair may not always be done, but I at least make an attempt!

I think looks help but aren't necessary. I fell in love with my fiance for his mind. His ability to make me laugh, his kindness and big heart. I tell him all the time, I would love him if he was 500 pounds, bald and no teeth because he is the kindness and most loving human being I know. I often worry about my looks I am a girl. He tells me he thinks I am the most beautiful woman in his mind. I am a jeans, t-shirt and hoodie girl. I don't wear dresses, or skirts or sexy sleep ware. I would rather be loved for my mind and my personality then for my body. Looks come and go.
