The Power of Spray Paint

We had five gold light fixtures on the main floor. Personally, I hate gold.
I wanted something more modern.Something fresher.Replacing five light fixtures with even the cheapest $10 fixture would be $50. So we decided to spray paint the gold instead for a whopping $7.50 for the entire project. Can't beat that! We used Krylon Oil Rubbed Bronze spray paint. We tried to take the fixtures off the wall, but it would have been a lot of work reconnecting all the cables... So we took the glass bowls off, took out the bulbs, and loosened the gold rim and taped newspaper around the fixtures and under the rim. Then we painted. It was pretty easy and not very time consuming. I think it took about three hours from start to finish. And I love the outcome. It looks like a whole new fixture.

Best thing we ever did. Love it.

REMEMBER: Turn off the breaker! We did not disconnect any wires but thought it was best to be safe than sorry. We even used an Electricity Tester we borrowed from my dad to make sure the power was off.
