Garth and I watched Courageous, the newest movie from Sherwood Pictures. It was incredibly sad, yet beautifully done. I'm not a parent yet, but I have the most amazing, Godly dad with the utmost integrity. I also have the most Godly, loving, supportive husband. Because of these two awesome men in my life, I get frustrated at the way our culture preceives dads and husbands. They are usually protrayed as lazy, stupid, cheaters, and hardly ever the leader of the family.
This is why I loved Courageous so much. It painted men as faithful, Godly men who led their family and took being a father/husband seriously. I adored this movie and even took some notes on some of the parenting ideas from the movie. For example, in one scene the dad took his daughter out for a fancy dinner and gave her a ring to wear and asked if he could have her heart until the right man came along. I just thought that was brilliant! Love that.
I think the song "Courageous" by Casting Crowns from the movie really sums it up.

we LOVE that movie! I have never laughed so hard and cried to much at the same movie. It is an incredible picture of what Godly men can strive to be like!
My boyfriend is a police officer so we got free tickets from his chaplains at work to go see it when it first came out. I didn't think the actors were that great, but the storyline was good! I cried too! I definitely admired their portrayal of police officers too, because like most men, alot of times they get a horrible rep.
Have you seen the Fireproof one? I haven't seen that one, but I want to. My brother is a firefighter! haha
We saw the movie about a week ago! We had every intention of going to see it in theaters because we wanted to SUPPORT a Christian movie on the big screen, but we didn't seem to find the time. We did rent it from Blockbuster Box, and loved it. I swear...we were both blubbering babies the entire time. It def got our tears flowing, but it was such a great movie. At the end, my husband stood up and said "I Will!" Even though we have no kids. He's precious. I think the movie is GREAT tool for Christian Men, whether they are fathers yet or not.

My hub and I saw this back in Nov for our anniversary. He's usually into action and I was afraid the movie would be cheesy. The Hispanic couple and their acting was a bit.. Ehh.. But omg, that movie and the message was SO POWERFUL! We BOTH left the theatre with tears and couldn't stop talking about if that was our child. Very good movie. Acting was definitely a step up from fireproof.
I haven't seen it, but I saw ads! I'm glad you enjoyed it, I'll have to check it out!
