Good News / Bad News.

The Good News: We had the inspection on our house Tuesday and we passed with flying colors!! We are in the home stretch now finalizing our mortgage loan and getting ready to close next month. I don't think it has quite sunk in yet and we are in a bit of shock on the biggest purchase we have ever made. Eek! But we are extremely excited about this new stage in our life and we think this will all start to set in when we start packing.

The Bad News: I went to the eye doctor Thursday because I had started to notice my right eye sight changing. I didn't think anything of it. I just thought I needed new contacts, but when I got to the eye doctor I realized it was much more serious than that. I was told I had a retinal tear and needed to go see a specialist right away because fluid was getting into my eye and ruining my sight. If I didn't get it treated ASAP I could lose vision. I was not expecting to hear that and I was very freaked out. But I went to the specialist and found out that I had a retinal detachment and needed surgery to correct this quickly.
My surgery is tomorrow. I have never had surgery before so I'm a bit freaked out, especially since there is a 20% chance I could lose vision in my right eye. But I am thankful it was caught in time and my family, friends, and c0-workers have been extremely supportive. My surgeon is the chief of ophthalmology at the hospital so I know I am in good hands. I think the hardest part of all of this is sleeping at a 45 degree angle, it is the worst. After surgery I cannot bend, lift heavy things, and I get to wear an eye patch. Awesome.

First, congrats on the inspection and everything going smoothly so far with the house.

Second, I'm so glad you went on to the eye dr instead of dismissing the problem. I will be thinking about you tomorrow!

Passed with flying colors? Ugh we just had our inspection and the heater doesn't work. A guy is going out today to find out what is wrong. We are hoping it doesn't cost a lot. Good luck with the eye surgery! Scary when you have to get surgery on your eye but I'm sure everything will be fine.

I'm so thankful that you had it checked out when you did. I burned my retina with a curling iron in the 7th grade and had to wear an eye patch for a week. It's still a great story. Hope your surgery went well.

Oh no! My mom had that surgery and had to remain face down for 24 hours a day; face down!

That said, she is fine and had a wonderful recovery. I will pray for a speedy; full recovery.

i had the same thing a little over a year ago and i was pretty scared too. we have no idea how it happened, but so thankful it was caught in time. the recovery is pretty long overall just b/c it takes a while to be able to actually use your eye and see things normally again. good luck to you girl and congrats on the house!
