Operation Get Fit!

So last week I told you that I was going to try the Body for Life strategy to lose weight. I got rid of my food journal and stopped counting calories...sort of. It's a tough habit to break! I ate a protein, carb, and veggie every 4 hours. I didn't really like this way of eating because basically you are eating 400 calories every 4 hours and I felt really full and sluggish. I like eating 200 calories every 2 hours personally.
But the hardest part of the Body for Life Program? Working out in the morning before coffee or breakfast. According to Phillips, if you work out intensely for 20 minutes before eating or drinking anything your body will burn more fat than if you worked out for an hour at the end of the day. Let me tell you though, I hate working out before my coffee. I'm addicted and I'm not ashamed to admit it.
So after an entire week of following this plan of eating and exercise I'm here to report that the scale didn't budge. This is interesting because when I was tracking calories I was eating 1200 calories a day and wasn't seeing a difference in the scale. On Body for Life I was eating 1500 to 1800 calories a day and the scale didn't move. Interesting.
Am I frustrated? Not as much as I thought I would be. I didn't hate what I saw in the mirror today and people have been telling me I don't need to lose more weight. Maybe I am at my "happy weight." I will give it one more week of this plan and if I still don't see a loss I will accept this as my feel good weight and post before and after pictures.

Very interesting that your weight didn't move even with more calories. But then again, I've always heard there every body has a weight where it really "belongs." -- maybe you've found yours! :)

That IS weird that you increased your calories by quite a bit but didn't see a bigger number on the scale after a week. Must be the exercising before coffee in the AM, huh?

Why do you think you're not at your happy weight yet? Are you struggling to get to a certain number where you were years ago? How much are you saying you want to lose at this point?

What a great attitude to have about it and I have to give you credit for being open to change and trying something different. I look forward to seeing before and after photos, but from all the pics I’ve seen of you over the past few months, you look fantastic!

My trainer has been telling me the same thing about working out in the morning. I have been doing it for about a week now, and what I have learned is that I'm grumpy in the morning. I weigh in on Monday, so I'm not sure about the weight change yet, but I sure am hoping for a good result.

I can't wait to see pictures! Definitely take that to heart, what people are saying - that you look fabulous and may not need to lose any more weight! I know you look AMAZING and you have already accomplished SO MUCH!!

Weight loss & getting healthy is tough no matter how much or how little you need to lose...and we all tend to plateau at odd places. I can lose 10 -15 pounds easily...then be stuck for 2 or 3 weeks...then suddenly it jumps again and I drop like 7 overnight.

Keep up the good work! Just be happy in yourself & if you are in a healthy weight range - don't stress so much about losing as much as about toning and getting stronger!

Wow! Kudos for waking up early all week to work out! I can barely manage to wake up to go to work!

I've seen a lot of pictures you posted recently and think you look great! Is it just a number you want to get to that's got you so motivated?

I hear you on the coffee! I don't think I could work out first thing in the morning without a little something to give me a boost.

I might be wrong, but 1200 calories sounds like it might be a little low if you are doing a lot of physical activity. I have definitely read that no one should ever eat less than 1200 calories, so I imagine that if you are exercising you probably need to eat more...maybe 1400??

Have you ever taken a look at this website: http://www.caloriesperhour.com/ ??? Maybe that will help you figure out how many calories to consume. Because that is a little odd that you were able to eat more, and feel worse, without the scale budging in either direction.

Anyways...I think you should do whatever makes you feel your best! If that means coffee before your morning workout, then I think you shouldn't feel bad about that.

You have done an incredible job getting into shape!!! You should be proud of yourself :) You are certainly and inspiration.

I've kind of given up on the scale and I'm going by my pants. I feel okay now even though I would still like to drop a few more pounds. I think maybe you are right that you've gotten to your happy weight and anything more than that is icing on the cake. :) Besides you are fabulous as you are!!! XOXO
