Q & A Part 1.

Food & Travel

What is your favorite cookbook?
How to Boil Water: Life Beyond Takeout. It is so appropriate for us, right? And it has all the greatest recipes from all my favorite Food Network chefs.

Go to "healthy" snack?
Edamame. I eat it like candy, for real.

What is your favorite Sushi?
I love the salmon skin roll but my favorite has to be the California Roll. I love me some crab meat and I know the best place!

Where would you like to live if not in Michigan?
Houston, Texas. I joke that I already have the big hair so I would fit in perfectly. Besides, it's close to the beach and I have always wanted to be a southern belle.

What is the best place you have visited and why?
Hawaii. I mean seriously, how could you not fall in love with this view?

I also fell in love with the culture, the weather and the people. It truly is paradise and I can't wait to go back someday!

Do you plan on living close to the beach since you love it so much?
Yes! We hope to move somewhere near the ocean in the future, it has been a dream of ours since we got married.

Can I come visit you in Michigan? Never been there!! =)
Yes, please! We'll drink Vernors and eat Saunders on our ice cream.

Education & Work

What did you study in College?
I studied Family Community Services which is basically family psychology. I loved studying the many dynamics of families and dreamed of becoming a marriage counselor, but as the program progressed I realized this was not the career for me. I could not handle a couple getting a divorce while I was counseling them and I hate disagreements so this was not for me.

Do you have a Master degree?
Yes, I have my masters in theological studies. I am a huge theology nerd and I have the bookcase to prove it.

What do you and your hubs do for work?
I am an event coordinator for a Christian school so I plan fundraisers and alumni events. Garth is an insurance analyst.

Why can't you drink adult beverages?
Ah, I knew this would come up! I've been trying to avoid it (sorry!), but basically the school I am employed at merged with another Christian school (non-profit) that prohibits employees from drinking alcoholic beverages. I don't love it, but I do love my job.

Do you and Garth have the jobs you want to have forever?
To be honest, no. While I love my job, it's a lot more administrative than I would like and the pay is not fabulous. As for Garth, he enjoys what he does but his dream is to own a web design company.

If you could have any career imaginable what would it be?
Wedding coordinator. I love weddings and event planning so this would be perfection.

*Stay tuned for tomorrow's topics - our relationship & marriage.*

Oh girl, Houston? Hahaha I am a little biased but the beaches in the carolinas are so much better! And you can still be a southern belle... especially in Charleston, SC. The south west just can't compare to the south east... but again, I may be biased! :)

fun answers, great getting to know you better! Glad you answered the no-drinking question. I still think it's amazing that a job can dictate the legal activities you are allowed to participate in on your own time though!

What a fun post! Loved finding more out about you.

I have an idea you might ponder, you can open your wedding planning business and have your hubby design the website! :) Or have him design your blog and maybe start him some business on the side that he can build from!

Fun stuff! I love these Q&A posts.

My hubby works in insurance as well -- as manager on the claims side. It is NOT his dream job. He's thinkin' of making a career switch, but what that is, he doesn't know!

This was so fun! I love edamame and California Rolls are my favorite. Hawaii is also the best place that I’ve ever been and I don’t think that anyone can really understand unless they have been there. It is paradise and I loved everything about it.

Your job sounds nice and I think it’s great that you went so far in college. I bet with your experience in your current position you could open your own wedding planning business one day :)
