Tradition!

It's the most wonderful time of the year! I really adore this time of year - the twinkle lights, Charlie Brown Christmas, holiday Starbucks cups, smell of pine trees, yummy Christmas cookies, and the hustle and bustle of the season. It's all so magical, I don't even mind the snow.

Last year was our first married Christmas together and we wanted to start some of our own holiday traditions. But in the midst of all the holiday parties and family gatherings we only ended up doing one of the traditions we were planning on and that was to make a big breakfast on Christmas Eve.

I'm actually really excited because this year will be the FIRST time I get to spend Christmas morning with Garth! While we were dating and engaged we spent the morning with our respective families and then our first married Christmas (last year) we stayed the night at his mom's so we could watch our niece open gifts. But this year we are celebrating with Garth's family on Christmas Eve and with my family Christmas evening which means we get to wake up together and open gifts just the two of us! I think this is great because we don't have to rush from one family to the other.

It's the start of new traditions. I see a lot of Celine Dion and Mariah Carey Christmas music playing, ABC Family holiday movie watching; hot cholocalte drinking; and celebrating the birth of our Savior.

It sounds like it’s going to be a fabulous Christmas! I think it’s great that you’re starting some of your own traditions. Geof and I started some of our own once we were engaged and it is really special. I can’t wait until we go cut down the tree!

Me too. Next year we'll open presents in our own home. This year we're doing a nighttime gift opening on the 23rd before heading to my parents on the morning of the 24th. I plan on making cinnamon rolls and a breakfast casserole for the 23rd, I can't waiiiiit!!!

That is so exciting! I love Christmas with Mr. Potts.

Our first traditions we started were to go & see a movie together Christmas night and to eat Mexican together on Christmas Eve (usually for lunch).

Oh I'm so excited for you! This will be our 2nd married Christmas as well, but we have yet to get to spend it just he and I! I look forward to that {one day.}

I am so jealous! This will also be our 2nd married Christmas, but I fear it will be quite some time before we are able to spend Christmas morning just the two of us. His family lives 4 hours away and mine lives 1.5 hours away... We switch off who we spend Eve/day with and so we are always traveling.... Someday though! :-)

That sounds great. Everyone is coming to the hubby and my house for Christmas. I think that this year I kinda overspent on the hubbys since he is the hubby this year. Last year we were 5 months away from the wedding and we were watching the pennies. I am looking forward to our first married Christmas. I even bought an ornament to remember it buy. Maybe this will be out tradition of buying a special ornament each year that we are together.

Here's to new Christmas traditions. I have about 52 hundred of my own, but this is the first year fiance and I will be together for all of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. New family = new traditions. Very exciting.

PS Not afraid to admit - I'm a sucker for ABC Fam's 25 Days of Christmas. They tend to monopolize my DVR this time of year!

We try to stick to traditions but honestly we usually forget what we did the year before. I'm so excited for the Christmas movies this time of year! Love them!
