A Bed & Breakfast Weekend.

We had a nice, relaxing weekend in South Haven at Martha's Vineyard Bed & Breakfast. It was our first experience at a b&b, but we thoroughly enjoyed it. The atmosphere was romantic, peaceful, and private. The personal touches made the vacation so much more amazing, like coffee brewed fresh each morning (no hotel coffee, ick) and freshly baked cookies and brownies put out each day.

I know some bed & breakfasts are awkward because you all share a bathroom or all meet in the dining room for breakfast. This was not the case at Martha's, though. We had our own bathroom (and fireplace!) and breakfast was delivered to our room each morning at 9:00 a.m. I could get used to that! I would return just for the breakfast, ahhhhmazing! Garth even declared the breakfast the best he has ever had. You could tell everything was made fresh - the cinnamon rolls, sausage egg casserole, the blueberry granola yogurt...oh my goodness, so good.

The b&b was located on 5 acres of vineyards, a pond, and a golf course. Garth and I enjoyed getting our coffee each morning and walking around the grounds. There was a swing next to the pond we would sit on and sip our coffee and these ducks would run up to us, quacking. It was the cutest thing because they were not shy at all and they would follow us around.

Our room was so romantic, cozy, and comfortable. We had such a restful weekend and feel so rejuvenated now. We stayed in the guest house:
This is the main house:I fell in love with the veranda:This is our gorgeous room:We had robes!! So I was being goofy:The pond where we swung on the swing and drank our coffee:
Gotta love hammocks: I had never been on a tree swing before, loves it!
Friday night we just stayed in and enjoyed the room. We ate fresh baked brownies for dinner... because we can, don't judge. Saturday we walked around the beautiful town of Saugatuck, located on the Kalamazoo River, and ate lunch at The Butler, thanks to my dad's recommendation. I had the tilapia and Garth had the BBQ wings and both were excellent and the views of the river were fab ambiance. After lunch we did some wine tasting:Then we went to Oval Beach to walk along Lake Michigan. It was such a windy day and the waves were so big, it was fun. Of course, Garth had to go into the water:
Afterwords, we headed back to South Haven for dinner at Jake's Beach House. The atmosphere and decor were fun, and the drinks were fabulous, but the food was just mediocre. Sunday morning we woke up and this was delivered to our room:After breakfast we loved chilling on our patio. Gotta love 60 degree weather in November!Sunday we hung out in South Haven, walked along the harbor, and ogled over the big boats. We did more wine tasting:
After drinking yummy wine we went to Clementine's for lunch. I had the most amazing fried zucchini and Garth had ribs (Garth always orders ribs on vacation, ha!) We needed to walk off lunch so we walked around downtown and walked along the beach:

Then we headed home. It was such a fun weekend and I'm sad to see it come to an end. We had the most lovely time and I can't wait to go back! I would definitely recommend this bed & breakfast. Our first experience was a success.

Saugatuck and Oval Beach are two of my favorite places in the WHOLE WORLD, and I am not even lying! This Missouri girl spent three summers in Michigan and took at least 1 if not two or three daytrips to Saugatuck each year. :)

Glad you all had a fab time!

Ohhhh looks amazing! I totally hear you on some of the decor being a bit outdated and "grandmaish"! The hubs and I have down it a few times and really really enjoyed it but we are pretty selective on the b&bs we stay at! So glad you were able to enjoy a relaxing weekend, I loved seeing all the pictures!

I'm so glad your experience was a good one! It all looks so amazing! What a fantastic room!

And per your question yesterday...I heart Zumba! I do not find it too hard to follow. Sometimes it's a little tricky at first to get the steps...but then I'm good. Plus, no one really knows what they are doing :)
