First Taste of Heartbreak.

Garth and I always talked about traveling the world. Going on cruises. Visiting Greece and Australia. Traveling back to Hawaii. Exploring San Fransico.

I don't know if it's a rite of passage to adulthood, but suddenly all those dreams have disappeared. All we want is a house. It's all we can talk about. It's all we think about.

This weekend we found a house we ADORED. It's not much to look at from the outside. But the kitchen is the most gorgeous thing I have ever seen.

Those beautiful hard wood floors make me fall harder in love. And that dining room? Fabulous! I have a thing for white trim.

But the real beauty of this house is the backyard. I love the deck and hot tub. I could already envision us having parties out here.
This backyard has definite party potential, no?

So we called the realtor to schedule an appointment and that is when the heartbreak happened. He informed us that this house had an offer on it and was not being shown. He told us he would call if the offer fell through, but we have our doubts. This house is in walking distance to an up and coming downtown and is really underpriced. Tear. Time to give it up and know that something better is out there for us.

That is a great home, I'm sorry the news wasn't positive, but perhaps it could become so?

You never know with those things. My FSIL was so upset with the home owners in one of her offers that they dropped the offer on their dream house. Things happen. you never know. Good Luck!

It looks good! But dont despair, maybe something even better is waiting for you :)

If it's not meant to be, it's just not meant to be! God is keeping you away from the houses that you're not supposed to buy so you can have the EXACT one he has chosen for you!

it is a beautiful house, i'm sorry about the bad news :( but you're right, everything happens for a reason and you'll find an even better house perfect for you and garth, even if that doesn't seem possible right now! house hunting is such a hard process, but totally worth it!

well hopefully something better is waiting for you right around the corner. or heck, maybe that's someones way of telling you to enjoy this time a little, do your traveling, and when you get back your dreamhouse will be waiting!

good luck (=

Awwww, I'll be praying for you! You just have to trust! The husband and I have been in back to back to back circumstances where it seemed all odds were against us and we knew we couldn't do a thing about it so we just gave it to God and decided it was most important to us to be where He wanted us to be so if that was what He wanted us to be He'd make it happen. Every time He came through in a big way!

It sure does look gorgeous on the inside and the outside IS perfect for parties! But don't fret my pet! My parents fell in love with our house 11 years ago and they wanted to put down an offer, but someone had already started the process of buying it and so the house was off the market...while my dad was signing papers to make an offer on a different house the realtor called and said that the offer on THIS house fell through! And here we are, happily ever 11 years after!! :) Miracles happen! :)

You know how people always say "everything happens for a reason". Well they're right. We got the house of our dreams torn away too and that's how we wound up in the house we're in now and every single day I think to myself how glad I am that the first one fell through. You will find something even better, I know it!!

aww, I'm sorry about the house, but hey you never know. The people may not want the house. Stay positive lady =)

It is gorgeous, but it might not be meant for you and Garth. And when the right house comes along, you will forget about every other house you looked at!

I'm sorry for the heartbreak :(
I'm sure your house will come along soon, don't wanna buy the wrong house do you? And who knows this offer might fall through, trust me it happens, I'm speaking from own experience.

The house is beautiful, but if it is meant to be it will happen! I know how frustrating it is though. When we bought our first house (and still our house) two years ago, it was extremely emotional. We found one in the same neighborhood we are in that was on the creek and beautiful, but it already had an offer over the asking price so we knew we were out. I figured it was a blessing because I get eaten alive from mosquitos and we are about as far away from the creek as possible in our house now in the same neighborhood. I can only imagine how bad it would be if it was in our backyard!

Hang in there girly! sorry I haven't been commenting as much lately, but I hope all is going well :)

Oh no! I know it's disappointing right now, but you'll find an even better one!

Aww... I'm sorry! You'll find something you'll love even more!!

I feel your pain on this! The first house we ever looked at was our dream and underpriced in a good neighborhood, with a great school district. We were bummed, but snapped out of it and kept on looking.

You will find your dream house. It is out there for sure!

I'm sorry girl. It looks like a wonderful house. Hopefully it will fall through for the other people or youll find something better.

That is the saddest part. Good luck on the house search! The right one will come along. Don't settle though, get exactly what you want.

What a great house, but I am sure if that one doesn't work out that you will find one you love even better! Best wishes on your house hunt!

Katrina said...

that happened to us a couple weeks ago, and now we are under contract on a better, newer and cheaper house! God has a reason for everything! Even if it isn't apparent at the time =) Hope you find a better one soon!

Yup...we came face to face with huge heartbreak. we had fallen in love with a house that HAD IT ALL...and extremely underpriced and of course they had another bid on the house. we kept checking every other week until it was sold. :(

what a SUPER DUPER CUTE HOUSE!!! I will certainly pray the other offer falls through and you guys get a phone call!!

Holly said...

I'm so sorry. Everything happens for a reason! I'm sure y'all will find something perfect very soon!

Kassie said...

How disappointing! But there will be the perfect house that's out there for you. I know that's annoying to hear, but it's true. :)

Bekah said...

ah bummer! Offers do fall through, so there is still a chance you might get to at least see the house...and if you dont? You will find something you love just as much when you really start looking!

Unknown said...

Well, you could always find out if they have signed contracts yet...just because there is an offer doesn't mean another one can't be put on the table.

If it's not possible, then I've learned that it wasn't meant to be and the right house will come along eventually.

Wow, gorgeous! Sorry you didn't get it :(

Thats a bummer! I kind of know how you feel...this time last year Ben and I were looking at houses and found one we really loved. We were ready to take the next steps with our Realtor when the market tanked and the company restructured - laying off out go-to guy and freezing loan activity (at least I think that's what happened Ben was handling most of it). Then of course Boo got laid off in February so with one steady income and a wedding we are paying for ourselves....our dreams are on the back burner...but I know the feeling...I want a house bad too! Hang in there0 you'll get the right one!
