Dog Fever.

The saying "you want what you can't have" is true. We used to live in an apartment where we could have a dog, and we didn't want a dog. Now we live in a complex where dogs are not allowed, and we want a dog. I blame it on the book I'm reading - Marley and Me.

But it's not even that. I grew up with dogs my whole life. There was the dog of my childhood, Dylan. Dylan was a Bouvier Shepherd and he was so gentle and loving to my family, but the biggest guard dog if you were not.

Then there was Ben. Ben was a Great Pyrenees and he was gorgeous, sweet, and never hurt a fly. He was super playful, but the biggest scaredy cat when it came to thunderstorms, cats, and small dogs.

Since I grew up with big dogs, it's no surprise I want a big dog. This is part of the reason we won't get a dog until we have a house. But it looks like we'll be a two-dog-family because Garth and I already have our heart set on two very different breeds...and names.

I want a Golden Retriever and his name will be Chandler (because he's my fave character on Friends). Could he BE any cuter?!
And Garth wants an English Bulldog named Manchester (after his favorite soccer team, Manchester United). Ahhhh! So. stinkin'. cute. Only ten more months to a house and these precious new family members.

I've wanted an English bulldog for SOOO long- I'm just trying to talk the hubby into the crazy price tag! We have a golden retriever/lab mix and we LOVE them!!

Oooh the golden retriever is the one for me! I love dogs especially the huge one's. But Hubs is terrified of them he he he :D So cannot have them :(

awwlll both are so cute - my hubby loves both those dogs...he wants a English Bulldog soooo bad!!!! Those are the cutest pics ever!! Makes me want them!

We have two English Bullies- Buerly (named after Mark Burhle of the Chicago White Sox) and Rooney (named after Wayne Rooney of Manchester United....hubs is a HUGE fan). I cannot say enough great things about the breed. Every English Bulldog I have come across has such a great, unique and laughable personality. I can come home in the worst mood and one (or both) of our dogs will do something that has me laughing hysterically. They are expensive but I promise....they are worth EVERY penny! I will never own anything but English Bulldogs (though goldens are VERY adorable especially as puppies).

awwww! I would have dog fever too dreaming about those two little guys! The bulldogs paws really get me! They are both sooo cute!!

I can't imagine not having a dog. We're a blended family now since we both came with a dog. Both of whom could not be more different.

You might consider Retreiver Rescue, especially if you want two dogs. Many of them are already house trained, but people give them up since Goldens can be a handful. But, they are great dogs.

We have a super large golden retriever and he is the best dog in the world!!! I'm so glad we went for him over any other dog type. The best thing about goldens is that they keep their puppy eyes forever!!! XOXO

I went through the same thing when I first moved out of my parent's house! The fever takes over big time! Ha! Little Chandler and Manchester are PRECIOUS. Now you're giving ME the fever to get a second dog!

Hahaha we are going to be a 2 dog family too. And we definitely have a dog in a complex that doesn't allow them. Oops. But, we are only here until December and neither of us could wait. I wanted a cute little furry lap dog because that is what I have always grown up with. I had my heart set on a shih tzu, so we got her first because she was much cheaper. But, our next dog is going to be an English Bulldog for Scott. That is just too funny. I have to admit I am slightly excited about the bulldog too.

you know me... I love our bullies!! They are really expensive but so worth it. Just to warn you all three of ours have bad allergies and have had to have some minor things done, one had knee surgery. Sometimes they can be high maintenance but again, sooo worth it!!! Sweetest breed and greatest personalities. Goldens are sweet to!!:)

Awww - I'm so excited for you!! You might turn into a crazy dog lady, like me. I talk about Austin like he's my son. Wiat - he IS my son, furry as he may be. He's such a part of our family, and I can't imagine not having his amazing personality around.

You'll be SUCH a good pup-mom!

I have had puppy fever for a while now. I think so much of it though is because I miss my Maddy.

Golden's are such fabulous dogs!! I'm so jealous. :)

I've been following your blog for a while now and love reading about your life! But this post was just crying out to me to comment on. I have been suffering from dog fever forever too!! And I love that you want a big dog... (my dream is a german shepherd named Ranger) but my husband does NOT want a dog and I don't know what I'm going to do!!! :) ALSO, my husband is a die-hard Man U fan too!!! Boy they sure take that stuff seriously! Maybe if I agree to name a dog Manchester too, he will agree!! ha!

Dogs are great! We keep accumulating them. Two Dobermans and one Siberian Husky so far. Please check out local shelters before you get a dog. Two of our three are rescue doggies and they are SO appreciative and sweet! There are tons of pure bred dogs at the shelters. I LOVED Marley and Me too!

Annie said...

We have two adorable Dachshunds names Princess Charlotte Honey Belle and Miss Magnolia Belle. We waited 4 years until we were in the "right" place and the "right" dogs came along - and our little family is now perfect!

Except the our darn cat. I really dislike that cat.

I love the wrinkly lil Bulldog - adorable!!
